Hey man,

I'm also in a similar niche. Have you found much a difference in between the lockers that Adscend has? I'm using the file blocker right now and conversions aren't that great. Think I should switch over to the pop up content locker rather?

Where's the best place to put the locker?

Right now I have: Single Landing Page->Download Link at Bottom of Page -> Linked to Adscend File Blocker

Should I try this instead? Single Landing Page -> Link to a Download Page -> Have Download on this page and then have the regular content blocker pop up and block it here?

Also, do you think I should try the program version that you are doing similarly to logoz? My problem is I'm offering ebooks, no programs, so does that work?

I'm using the pop-up one, I tried the file locker once but it seemed like most people turned away once they reached that page.

It's best to put it after a bit of a pre-sell. There has to be some sort of incentive for them to really want it. if you just push it in front of them and say here we know you want this so fill out a survey to get it, of course conversions will be low. This is the tempting thing to do but I did this before and conversions were very low.

Sure that sounds good, you could also have a banner that is site-wide on your site and have it be pretty big, the banner will offer something already and then when clicked it will lead to a landing page where you will do even more of a pre-sell and then a download link that is content locked.

It works, but i'm only doing the program thing on one of my sites and it's one of my lower income generating sites, it doesn't seem to make that much of a difference as long as you do a good pre-sell before they see the lock.

Could you elaborate a bit on this please? Just asking cause earlier you mentioned that you kinda let your visitors decide between filling a survey or paying $50.

So how do you do this without "pushing it in front of them" You make them click "buy now" etc and then tell them they can fill a survey or buy it?

One more thing, does having content locking scripts on your website hurt your chances of ranking well in google? As far as I have known, google hates websites that have such scripts? Are the pages that rank and are driving traffic the same ones where you have installed the content locker? What content locker do you use?

It's not as blatant as a BUY NOW ELSEWHERE or do the survey. It's lead up to a content locker yes, but before they get to the locker page, they're already offered something for free [you'll have to think of what you can offer for free that's related to your niche! i.e a preview of the eBook, a summary of a guide, or something along those lines] which is not locked or anything. Then when they land on the content locker page they can choose whether to do it or not, but they already get the free thing on the page before regardless.

No the page [ only one ] that I have the content locker on is not the one that is driving traffic. I have long articles that I hand-type that are driving the traffic. The page with the content locker is merely a big banner that is displayed site wide and i'd be shocked if the visitor didn't see it ^__^

I use Content LocK Pro and other gateway networks.

For These sites i'm currently trying AdscendMedia for this month. Though The EPC/Conversions are not as high as I hoped, I also have a BLAMAds account that I have not used yet as well as Content Lock Pro but that was a bit of a hassle having to manage offers and constantly take take off/put on new offers, so i'm using a prepopulated gateway for now.

I wanted to get into but wasn't sure about rankings with a content locker, so obviously google doesn't care if you have a content locker on your site? Also do you link to your content locker on your first page or you do your presell and then put it after the content on the first page? Not really sure how content locking works.

It'll be a problem if it's on the main page of your site or on pages that get you hits from search engines. So put it on a page deep in your site and tag with noindex as well.

Presell with a site-wide banner on every page of the site, then lands on a presell page, then if they continue -> content locker page.

Great thread!

One question, not sure if someone asked this already. Are your sites setup in a blog format where you create posts related to your niche and bring in traffic that way then people click on your side/top banners due to interest? Like you're not directly telling them to go to the page with the locker, they go there on their own decision?

Or is it setup with a landing page that is just ranked high for a keyword which will then take them to the page with the locker?
