Flipping Q&A - ask me whatever you like :)

Hello, I was just wondering If its better to find some already proofed earning sites with stable income for lets say 12 months, and then by doing expensive advertisement (atleast 4K a month) make it much more more worth and sell it/continue in scaling as long as it works and then flip it. Because as long as I am reading here, the hardest part is bringing the concept that really works and then scaling it up to the sky for sweet profits =D

Buying a site and then scaling it is a good strategy, yes. However, if you're buying $4k worth of advertising each month you'll have to take that expense into account which isn't always worthwhile.

I'm going to chase you down at Ungagged if we get a chance, but...

I'm really interested in building a portfolio of investment websites that I spruce up. I want to know the best way to get started.

The Flippa team at Ungagged '14 recommended to me that I don't spend that much - maybe $5k? - On my first website since I've had no flipping experience. I'm interested in buying affiliate websites (with attached YouTube accounts being a dream).

But at the same time, I know that if I buy a $5k website I'm throwing myself in the deep-end since you don't get to work closely with brokers unless you buy websites with larger price tags ($20k+ I believe?).

I don't want to get burned out of $5k if I can help it because I was inexperienced with due diligence, but there is probably a good reason they suggested not going the big-website route. Do you have any suggestions for people getting started in this business? Any ebooks/courses as well you could recommend regarding due diligence?

Let's chat at UG but:

I tend to recommend the opposite. For <$10k it's highly unlikely you'll find anything that is stable and if it is, chances are it's already maxed out (micro niche site). The market <$10k is FULL of junk so I wouldn't even touch it if I were you for a first time purchase. If you have the budget I would recommend $20-$50k for a first time purchase - you are more likely to get something that can grow, is legitimate and you aren't limited to marketplaces where the sales process can be more unpredictable.

With regards to information on the subject of due diligence, there's very little public. We have a free guide for buyers: http://feinternational.com/buyerguide/ and regularly blog about topics, too: http://feinternational.com/blog/

Hey, meathead, do you know how much a website that was recently included in Google News is worth? It doesn't have a strong backlink profile, just lots of articles.
