flippa scams

Anyone else notice cheesy thin content .info sites with no traffic getting winning bids of $1000 or more? Do you think these auctions are 'won' to pad the ratings of the seller?

There's some gems over on Flippa but most are just coal.

Seriously, 95% of the sites on Flippa are either a scam or are being very misrepresented.

Go under sites selling for like $5k and it's more like 99%.

The "Flippa verified" Google Analytics are worthless. It's crazy easy to buy some fake traffic. It's also not hard to fake Google Adsense earnings to get the "verified" by Flippa.

Flippa doesn't care, they make $30 off each listing. Scammers bid on each others' auctions to jack up their ratings and selling totals or use multiple accounts then try to make a $1000+ sale all the time.

Unless you're looking to pay in the $10k+ range, you're not going to find many sites worth looking at. Once in a while a good one comes up but it usually is a huge fixer-upper. Unless you're looking for sites to provide backlinks to your existing sites, be very careful.

Even sites sold by "trusted" sellers like the AdSenseFlippers.com guys are junk buys. I've researched all their past sales that were a year or more old under the account they used to use on Flippa and just one out of like a dozen were even still online. Nobody is going to pay $600-$3000 for an AdSense site and pull it down in under a year if it was actually earning what was claimed.

They were probably propping the sites up with backlinks from their private network of sites and then pulled those links shortly after the sale.

Seriously, research past successful sales that are more than a couple of months old and you'll see how many get pulled down or still have their web stats public and you can see how the traffic literally went to zero weeks to a month after the sale.

I still browse Flippa once in a while when I've got nothing else to do but for buyers, it's really a waste of time. Who wants to dig through so much junk? As a seller, it's better (great if you're a scammer).

My opinion anyhow. It's your time and money, knock yourself out.

Anyone that is serious into purchasing a domain for anything more than 100$ would avoid Flippa like the plague and not jump on an offer especially if it is your first go at domain purchasing or you are looking to flip a website. If you want the website because it represents your brand or you need the name for whatever reason then go for it but for flipping? GAWD NO.

I got scammed once before. But that was 100% my fault. It was my first website purchase. I should've known better and done my research, but I didn't.

i also got scammed twice in flippa each time scammers done BIN but while contacting them they never replied, if we relist any site after the BIN fails then those site wont sell soon

I do apologise but to say that the majority of business on Flippa is legit is nothing short of ridiculous.

Like BlackHatSoda said a few posts above - I look through the auctions occasionally and purchased a site 8 months ago for $4000 which worked out very well. There are some genuinely good deals on there but the huge majority of sites listed are scams - I'd go so far as to say that legit listings make up for less than 10% of total listings on there - you just have to know what to look for. The unfortunate thing is that Flippa are well aware of this but turn a blind eye because these scams are how they make their money.

For the OP - do be careful of legal action, but don't let others scare you away from posting your genuine findings - what people often forget is that it's not slander if what you are saying is true (and you have evidence/proof).

I got scammed on both of the sites i bought there. Really annoyed. I think the key is to buy larger websites.

A few months ago, I sold couple of my relationship niche and everything was done as great -- No bad experience so far -- Moral is, check everything perfectly before buying anything or don't buy until you know how to check.

Initially it would be nice to devote even just, to sites that are sold at auctions or marketplaces that much, almost always, are sold as gold mines and bought from poor fools!

It would be nice to have a community where potential buyers can meet and learn how to spot the real sites value and discard the usual scams! I wait for you! Thank you
