Flickr for GOOD backlinks ?

Is anyone using this technique for gaining high pr backlinks ? You basically write a comment to a picture and you can use an HTML <a href> tag to include your URL and even with an anchor text.

The links are do-follow. I'm wondering, is it any good ? I've used it a couple of times but wasn't able to make many of them show up even in Yahoo explorer and I'm mostly interested in Google 'good' backlinks.

I don't personally use Flickr, but if you want to add it to your arsenal for backlinking, it sure won't hurt.

A great place for backlinks and is a great place to leverage is Yahoo Answers.

I could list several dozen more, but I don't want to get your thread off topic.

Keep an eye on Flickr pics appearing on the front page of Digg. Then go on Flickr and plug your url into the comments. Sit back and enjoy up to 1000 uniques / 24 hours.

add a load of your own related photos too with keywords links etc to flickr - can even be screen shots weve found that works too!

This may a dumb question but is there any tricks to finding flickr pictures on digg for this method?

I go to Digg's images section and hit Ctrl+F and search for flickr. Then go to the next page. To be honest i don't go too many pages in because i need traffic and obviously it dies out after a while. If you are looking for linky goodnes then i guess you can use ( site:digg.com flickr) queerie.

Obviously there are other images sites you can comment on as well as stories that appear on blogs.

Nofollow links don't pass PR but work for SERPs.

Google has been giving penalties for this for me. Just make sure you don't overdo it.

If you're going to use these tricks, it would be helpful if the picture in question was in some way, shape, or form relevant to the site you're linking to. Google will be far less likely to "question" the authenticity of your link if both the anchor text and resultant page are in some way relevant to the rest of the content on the page.

Actually that just makes the link have both a rel="follow" AND a rel="nofollow" attribute, which is still a nofollow to Google I believe.
