Do Flash animations still have relevance? They were huge last decade, with sites like Newgrounds and AlbinoBlackSheep, but it seems like they are dying out these days in lieu of videos.
 
Yes, they still have relevance but the phablet awareness has stopped major production. More people are viewing on mobile so html5 is the new thing in. I still produce cartoons in flash because it's got a lot of potential to offer me for my work. As for publication, I tend to favor html5 for people who view my site on mobile.

I see. Thanks. Is it possible to make games and animations of the same caliber using HTML 5? I don't see much in HTML 5 aside from media players these days.

Yes it's possible. There are a lot of html 5 games & animation in the open web.

Yeah due to the growing popularity of mobile phone and tablets, most websites have ditched animations and flash. Over half of online users are on mobile devices, so it's important businesses can appeal to both sides nowadays.
