Fiverr 'processing fee' of $.50?

Ordering a banner graphic today on Fiverr and there was a $.50 'processing fee' tagged on in the checkout. I tried another gig just to see if it was something unique to the gig I was ordering and I got the same $.50 'processing fee' charge. Am I taking crazy pills or is this a thing now?

Yeah dude you're not, they're trying to screw us. But well, paypal themselves are screwing fiverr with the merchant fees.
Solution: Buy your stuff with Bitcoins ; ) No processing fee or whatsoever

Even with bitcoins they ask a $0.50 processing fee. This is bullshit and they added this recently.
 
They're charging for all the BS updates they've made with fiverr 3.0 from UI or Seller Rating and Zendesk Customer Support and don't forget there mobile app that keep's crashing no matter how advance mobile device you use,it will remind you fiverr sucks.
 
I just saw this this morning when I tried to order. Screw this. Done with Fiverr. I'll pay more at eLance. Simply a matter of principle.
 
What a load of BS. I just bought something from Fiverr on Saturday and didn't get any "processing fee", I just checked now and sure enough, all gigs have it now. They need to rename the site to Five-Fitty.
 
Yep, got a response from them just a minute ago:
Our Terms of Service (www.fiverr.com/terms_of_service) were recently updated to reflect any additional fees that may be associated with your order. Processing fees are added at the time of purchase where a buyer can review and accept the total amount requested to pay. These fees cover payment processing and administrative fees. As of November 2014: $0.5 on purchases up to $10 and 5% on purchases greater than $10.

'Any additional fees that may be associated...?' Like what? Just say it Fiverr, you're pushing the PayPal fees back onto the consumer while at the same time pocketing the difference to pad your margins. Not to mention that none of the suppliers are going to see any of that dosh.

I'd love to call my clients tomorrow to let them know I'm raising fees by 10% because I need to 'reflect any additional fees that may be associated with their order.'
 
Wow, that is soooo bad move by Fiverr. They are doing anything to ruin the seller's life.
 
I am curious if this fee also applies when you buy gigs from funds you have within fiverr from selling your own gigs..

Anyway there are many fiverr clones out there, this might be their time to shine :)
 
Just noticed this processing fee as well, complete and absolute bullshit! I'm writing to their support team as we speak. I do too much business with them to deal with such bullshit. This is like, one of the Top 3 rules of what NOT to do when charging customers a set amount that they're used to paying. Just like increasing someones monthly recurring charge to a higher amount. Fiverr is clearly run by morons who do not understand what is to have a customer base built already. It's like they're trying to force us to find alternative options to using them. If anyone has any suggestions of competitors I'm all open to trying out someone else.

Here's the business I've given them...assholes.

This is really bad for sellers, your services now cost 10% more to purchase (or 5% more to purchase).

Because I'm not a prolific Fiverr user, I'm more just frustrated that they are disingenuously calling themselves "Fiverr" at this point (seriously, this feels like it must be illegal) but if I was a regular Fiverr customer I'd be pissed. A 10% increase in price is huge.
 
I can understand where they are coming from because taking that payment is probably costing them money.
However, it seems unfair that they have added it now - they should already have estimated their fees and accounted for them.

And yes Windmill, I agree with you that its called fiverr for a reason, they are starting to move away from that now!
 
Dayyyyuummm I never bothered seeing how much I spent with Fiverr until this. Those little gigs really do add up, don't they. On average it is over $15 a gig.
