fiverr loves me - nobody else does?

I like to draw and I'm pretty good at it, maybe as some karmic compensation for my horrible IM skills.

I thought I'd start a fiverr gig just to see how it turns out.

So 4 days ago I started this little cartoons/caricature gig. it was pretty successful at first: Got 3 orders almost immediately and all rated me positively, two of them "wowed" at my art and one of them even tipped me and had me featured on her 550 fans facebook page dedicated to creative gigs.

I never made this much money (16$ lol) online in one day so I was pretty excited as I was proven I can convert my talent to $$$.

Then I thought I should get some fiverr luvin. So I uploaded a video (a time lapse speed painting) and stamped "only on fiverr" on the video. I also linked to my youtube channel where I declared I am available for hire exclusively at fiverr.

It worked. I got featured almost immediately. At the time of writing my gig is visible at the top of my category. But since then, I get absolutely no orders. I only have 87 views over all. I tried to attract more people by adding that the piece will be available in less than 48 hours. didn't really do anything. I tried to elaborate the gig description and add more keywords. didn't work either.

now that I think about it, I read somewhere (here I think) that you should capitalize at least one word in your gig title. I did that, and never got an order since. Maybe I'll revert because people think it is too spammy...

What do you guys think... How can an artist really make money on fiverr?

Art doesn't sell that well on micro jobs sites.....it is mainly services (like twitter followers/youtube views etc....) that do well

I have made several hundred dollars on fiverr giving services like the ones already mentioned.
And I have also had gigs about drawings and caricatures but have only made three sales or so on my artistic gigs.

But since you have already gotten sales it can be done. You have already gotten featured and is placed high in results. My experience is that once you are at the top there is going to be at least some sales.
And the more positive reviews you get the more people trust you.

Try changing the first few words to something catchy like "Best service on Fiverr" or "Order now and get a free ....."
This attracts views and views attracts sales.

My advice would be to let it be like it is for a week or so. (You have already optimized it wonderfully)
I wouldn't be surprised if you would begin to see a couple of sales soon..

Yes thats true. Artists can make occasional sales but not heaps of them. You can try Elance or Odesk and open up your profile. Also you can open a website showing your skills and promote yourself. Who knows you get a big client someday

Put your self in front of a market thats highly demanded on fiverr , great example are all those backlinking gigs with 30 orders in the queue.

Sales can sometimes be slow especially as a beginner that is not yet rated 2nd or top rated.

You need to learn how to attract traffic from other source other than fiverr.

You can also have a site and derive traffic from SEO.

All note, most of your sales will come from repeated clients, so be good, professional and always leave room for improvement.

It'll come, mate. I'm speaking fro experience - done over 2000 sales (and counting) as 'GigChamp'. Hold on till you get a couple of new orders, and then make sure you get rave reviews from them. I've realized that the more popular you get - more ordered in queue - the more sales you'll get.
Go the extra mile. No need to do build extra traffic (it won't hurt if you drive traffic from Social Media), but it'll come automatically. And contrary to what people say, if can't sell artwork at $5, you are not going to sell it at $50 on other sites - makes sense?
