However, when you sell Guest Posts to clueless clients, it might make a huge difference.

And clueless GP buyers are often fixated on high DA even when you try to

Inflating DR surely can be bad for your sites. Generally the backlinks are from high spam score websites. AHREFS DR can easily be tricked by high linking domains but it is of no use.

SEO wise it's useless as mentioned above unless you want to sell some posts then it becomes useful.
If you look around on Fiverr then you'd see that there are a lot of sellers who are actually selling high DA/DR guest posts, inflated with those same services.. so most people are using traffic as a metric to evaluate sites.
