Hi guys!

I made a post earlier about how to report keyword research to client, cause I was planning to make a gig on Fiverr. But someone suggested I try UpWork instead. So I did and managed to land my first client (yippie!). But heck was it a lot more complicated and harder than I thought to do keyword research. I thought I just needed a tool like Ahrefs, and I was pretty much set, but boy was I wrong. Cause I had never done any real keyword research before, so I only realized after starting working for my client that there's a lot more than just keyword difficulty, volume, and exporting the result on a csv file.

So to the main point. Right now I'm mostly looking for keywords with a kd 10 or lower and a minimum volume of 500. And for each keyword I find, I check it at Google trend. If it's a dying trend I will remove the keyword from the list.
Now I also include "intent" for each keyword, and "idea" for what kind of content my client could create for that keyword (still pretty noob suggestions imo).

I did some more digging on Google and found a website that mention categorizing keywords in priority, secondary and tertiary, for the keywords importance.

I believe there's a lot more I can improve for my keyword research, and I haven't even started optimizing content they gonna create for SEO or start link building (a hella lot to learn!). If I had the cash I would enroll in a course like the blue print training (if that's even a good idea).

If anyone is willing to give some tips or guidance on what I can improve, or what more I can do for my keyword research, please help me out!

Thanks in advanced!

You can easily have these metrics filtered with any premium tool - Ahrefs, KWfinder, just name it ...

It's best to ask your client about his objectives starting your research; There different keyword categories; Lead gen keywords, Commercial keywords, product keywords, information keywords, FAQ keywords to mention a few...

You really don't want to jump on what's not needed.

Here is a concise guide that should help you through your journey:https://backlinko.com/keyword-research
