So here's the story. I had a guy from a good affiliate blog reach out to me for a guestpost on my automated news web. I am a beginner, but I know I could ask for exchange of DF links because obviously his blog was 10X bigger. So I did. In response, the guy sent a list of websites with fairly good stats that he can give me DF links from. Asked me to check and get back to him. My question is, How do I get the most out of this communication?

From my experience, I would simply ask for money. Unless you really like any of the shown sites, think of this like a simple trading. If you can read the value of each link you should estimate how much you could earn from each transaction, say yours, a selling transaction (your site) and a buying transaction (any of his sites). Check typical parameters like outbound/inbound ratio, quality of the incoming links, etc...

Personally, I have a valuation for each of my sites, in case anyone contacts me for a guest post and I send it straight away (even in my money sites). It's a good practice overall and in case, your site is much more powerful, you shall be asking for 2+ links in different lower powerful pages for example. Is just a matter of negotiation

I checked everything from his site list. In any case they were better from mine. That's why I don't know how to respond. There's a list of atleast 20 sites.

If you think it's ok just do it, not sure what exactly you don't know how to respond?
You mean on, what you should ask for, or?

I mean should I put any terms and conditions ahead of exchange?

Choose the pages where you want him to put your links, choose anchors...
Tell him to do the same and you can add that you have the right to remove them if in the next period you see something is wrong.
Or, whatever you think you should add...
This is just an example.

Okay got it, thanks a lot mate.

I'd require that they pay me - don't do an exchange.

After you're paid, you can use that money to buy the links you want.

Well as I said, I don't think I am in a position where they'll pay much rn. Hence, I think link exchange would be a great option. Later I can definitely ask to pay.

Ask him money. By the way he is a seller. Basically he is trying to sell you not interested in link exchange or buying link from you as per my experience

Oh most probably. Yes. He's a seller. Because his personal blog is actually quite nice. And he didn't offer me any backlinks from it at all.
