[First Steps] clockhouse SEO Journey

February 22, 2015 - Minor Update

Still scraping away for expired domains. I should hopefully have 20 domains by the end of the day.

Today was the first time I've ever scraped some expired sites with good metrics, but they've been spammed with Chinese anchors.. :'(

I found 20 expired domains, but it was weird. I don't know if I just checked wrong but some of the TF dropped when I picked up the domain. Maybe that's normal but I didn't expect that lol. Luckily it was only a few that had this happen. :S

I'm going to start reading about building these expired domains and start building it ASAP (not sure how long this process is going to take). :S

Btw,

Could you explain some more on how you build links. I.e. what you use in the different tiers? I typically do a 3 tier contextual, but any input is always nice.

I use GSA to build a 2 tier contextual to my site.

It would look like this:
Money site <- T1 <- T2

I only build contextual in GSA and scrape my own list to feed into it. I make sure that these links are from quality domains (looking at different metrics) and not some spammed domain that'll implode my site. :)

Mini Update

I've found 20 themes to use on each PBN to make sure they're all unique from each other. I've also gone through and removed footer and some meta data from each of them.

I'm going to start gathering content and I think I'm going to target 1 - 3 keywords with this PBN.

Oh man was setting up these domains a huge pain. :S

Spent a few hours trying to figure out the cpanel for the hosting (this was very frustrating :() and setting up each site. For some reason, no matter what I try some of these sites just won't connect. I'm going to give it a little bit more than a day since it says it could take up 24 hours to propagate.

Hows your Submitted vs Verified numbers right now for your contextuals. Quite interesting how you filter your links. Main concern really is how much you are able to make per day and the stick rate for each article.

Here are the raw stats in GSA for this campaign.

Submitted
Verified

2748 (Increasing, was 900~ this morning)
67626 (This is all my links; alive, broken, dead, etc)

Looking at the chart in my GSA, it looks like I've been steadily building 400+ links/day for a while now.

Do you think it's worthwhile to filter all the metrics like you do? I mean, DA can easily be inflated by pure spam.

A good ratio to use, for bulk filtering is CF/CF <~1.8

TF & CF is only metric I look at lol.

PR gets updated once or twice a year, maybe. DA, like you said, can be inflated. Sure, CF can also be inflated but TF can't(?). :P

I stayed up last night to finish setting up my PBN and all of my sites are live and I'm praying that they'll get indexed. I've added them to Blog Xen to help with article distribution and scheduling. The funny thing is that I have no clue if I even created this PBN properly since I was reading and building at the same time lol, only time will tell. :P

I'm going to be scraping some more expired domains today just to keep building more PBNs. :)

Can you give us an insight on how you're scraping contextual links? Where do you get those footprints? How do you do the metrics? Do you use related keyword to your niche or a generic one? I am still learning how to use Gscraper, Thanks in advance!

Sure thing!

I got my initial footprints from BHW and other forums. Since then I've been harvesting my own footprints from my verified list in GSA. You can do this either manually or use a program (I use Footprint Factory).

I use ScrapeBox (keywordshitter or ubersuggest if you need a free alternative) to find niche related keywords. I import keywords to GScraper, load up my footprints, and let it run. :)

To check TF and CF you need to go over to Majestic. If you can't afford an account, google this site:webmastercare.com "majestic seo information" and it's the first link. You can check up to 20 links at a time for free!

Spent most of the day looking for expired domains, mangaged to pick up 5 new ones. Going to get setting those up as well as soon as my hosting emails me back. :)

A couple sites in my PBN are starting to get indexed, which is GREAT news to me! Now I just hope for positive SERPs movement. Hoping and praying all day everyday. :P

That means you only feed the links to GSA SER that has a certain TF / CF?

Yup, that's pretty much all I do with my links. I do check if the links are indexed and if they're still alive as well though.

March 1, 2015 - Minor Update

Hi guys.

Sorry for the lack of updates these past few days, it's been a busy weekend, but that doesn't mean I haven't been doing anything. :P

A few of my domains in my PBN we're penalized and I had to take them down, but luckily majority of my domains are not penalized and are getting indexed. :)

SERPs

Damn, I can post urls / images now! :) All right, here's my rankings. My PBN was targeting the second keyword in that image. The rankings having been jumping around but it's been increasing by bigger gaps. :)

Not sure if its worth building PBNs for churn and burn projects

Out of all the journeys out there, I guess you're the one most alike to mine so I really do read your updates.

Question: how did you find out that some of your PBN is penalized?

I believe that depends on the project, but I agree as well because it does add up. :)

Thanks! That means a lot. :)

BlogXen tells me when a domain is penalized, not sure how they check it, but I rather be safe than sorry. I'm trying to find a way to check if a domain has been penalized in the past, if there even is a way. :S
