Hi my name is clockhouse and welcome to my journey thread. :)

If the title of my journey didn't give it away, I'm new to SEO. I just started learning SEO from these forums a few months ago. I finally took action, created my first project a few weeks ago, and now that I'm seeing some SERP movement I can't help but feel excited a bit. Hopefully you guys won't expect to much from me. :o

I wanted to create this thread because I want to start being more involved in the community, so I guess this is also my hello and thank you to the BHW Community for getting me started in this. :)

What I've Been Doing

Currently I've been scraping my own lists, filtering the list, and then putting the list into GSA and building mostly contextual links with it right now.

At first I was filtering with only one metric and I recently change the way I was filtering my list and I noticed a spike in rankings / keywords ranking in general. I can't tell if it was because I changed the way I filtered the list or it was just time for my rankings to update.

Weirdly enough I didn't expect to spend most of my day maintaining my backlinks and seeing which one needs to be indexed, then indexing all my links daily, and look for new footprints every now and then.

I'm currently targeting low comp keywords ranging from 300 - 6000 monthly searches.

Here are my current SERPs (I can't post links or images yet so bare with me):

Keyword 1: 0
Keyword 2: 77
Keyword 3: 142
Keyword 4: 55
Keyword 5: 103
Keyword 6: 153
Keyword 7: 0
Keyword 8: 0
Keyword 9: 86
Keyword 10: 49
Keyword 11: 0

Current Goal

My current goal is to simply rank a website. I'm not worrying to much about monetization of this website (thinking one clickbank product + adsense ads) yet.

The reason why I have this simple goal right now is because I'm doing this to learn more about SEO right now.

Sorry for such a dragged on introduction, but I'll be doing one major weekly update, most likely Sunday, and I'll be doing minor updates to keep this thread fresh. :cool:

That is a good goal, Once you know the different types of mistakes that can happen when ranking a website you will be more aware when building a brand/company or just simple sites to monetize.

Nice thing that you take action and test things for the moment, it's really the best choice you can make. Anyway, do you only use gsa to your tier 1? I think you may use it on lower tier only and make your tier 1 manually to be more safe in term of penalties.

Thanks seocompanymail! Mistakes are just a part of the learning process. :)

Thanks Onizukafr!

I use GSA for all my tiers, but I am extra cautious with the links I feed into GSA.

February 2, 2015 - Minor Update

// Since it's the beginning of the month, I'm going to invest a bit of money onto the site these next few days.
// These next few updates will be mostly prepping for the four new keywords I just placed

* Started checking which links are alive, dead, deindexed, and needs to be indexed; this should take a few hours
* Looking into HQ Web 2.0 services to test
* Purchased 1 HQ Web 2.0 for 5 keywords
* Purchased 4 keywords from BHW
* Finished checking links and submitted for indexing (drip for 3 days)
* GScraper has been running for a few days now and should be finishing up either tonight or tomorrow.

Love the way the thread is organized ,keep with the hard work OP :)

You are doing Very well in BHW. Keep it doing this updates it helps to all. :)

* Formatted the article, added in an image to spice it up.
* Started prepping campaign for new article (anchor clouds, spinning articles, & etc)
* Finished spinning articles
* Finished setting up the new article for GSA
* Switched the site to a silo-site
* Finished checking links and submitted for indexing (drip for 3 days)
* Checking verified list in GSA and looking for new footprints since GScraper hasn't finished yet

Going to be generating more articles for GSA for each keyword for this month
No new footprints found from yesterday
Still waiting on the keywords I ordered two days ago before I can begin getting the content together
Keywords came! Time to start prepping these into content
Changed the settings for one of my tiers in GSA to hopefully help with indexing

* Started generating articles for GSA
* Figured out topics with keywords
* Placed order for 2 700word articles
* Finished checking links and submitted for indexing (drip for 3 days)
* Tweaked my GSA settings
* Finished generating articles

Wow, GScraper still isn't done. It's been 160hours+, but that's okay since my majestic subscription hasn't reset yet. I couldn't have filtered this list completely even if I wanted to.
Still waiting on Web 2.0 and articles. Todays update and maybe tomorrows will be a little bit empty.

* Started checking which links are alive, dead, deindexed, and needs to be indexed
* Looking into expired domains and PBNs
* Finished checking links and submitted for indexing (drip for 3 days)

February 6, 2015 - Minor Update

Ordered a PBN services from BHW for my biggest keyword to see it's effects. This is as much testing as I can do for this month, hopefully there will be some positive effects on my SERPs. :)
