First Step Taking Action With SEO and PBNs?

Hey BHW! Basically, I read a lot about SEO and PBNs here. I have been reading little close to everything here for a couple weeks.

I wanted to know from the many experienced SEOer's here regarding the first step on taking action with SEO and PBNs.

Researching niche competition before taking action? 1) What website or software do you recommend in regards to researching niche competition? For example, if you wanted to research how much searches a keyword receives per day or per month? How do you find out all of that? I've heard of a lot of websites/tools, however the top ones have are costy and up around 70+ a month.

I admittedly found a variety of answers. However, most of the them lead to a website like Semrush which leads to a paid subscription of about 70+ a month. Others are websites that are free, and I heard a lot of talk around that most of them don't provide accurate details - hence, what website performs the best accurate results?

How long is the wait time? 2) After buying a new domain for a new money website and picking up a few expired domains, how long do you normally wait before doing any link building? Do you let your new money website and PBNs age for a couple of days or weeks?

Why do SEOers buy PBN links instead of creating them? 3) It's rather confusing to think why would anyone buy PBN links here or anywhere on the internet. Is it not obvious that once you buy a PBN link linking to your money website, that link is no longer a private network link but a public network link considering also other links may be on the same network, linking out to who knows where?

SEO software websites, Majestic SEO, Ahrefs and Moz SEO, are they free? 4) Not really a perfect worded question, however if I were to use all of these websites and knowing that Majestic is not a free website, how could I use these types of websites for free? OR do you have any paid reoccurring subscriptions on these websites? Are they worth it?

These were a variety of questions I could think of at the moment. I'd appreciate any answer or feedback.

i use seospyglass to look at backlinks
i use the free trial of long tail platinum

I'll give you some very quick answers on what I personally use.

1) Semrush. It's expensive but it can save you time. If not then just GKP and SeoQuake to view the first page of the serps. It's slower, but better because you get a real feel for the competition.
2) No need to wait at all with either.
3) Most services don't show you their PBN links so it doesn't matter either way. It's still somewhat private. You just have less control. As long as the outbound links on the public network are low you're good to go.
4) I use the Majestic tool bar on Chrome and Moz is free.

Word of advice, I always supply my cilents with social signals.

Remember in 2016 the newest thing google looks for is social signals.

creating is more work but much more successful.
it is the way to go but you have running costs with it.

You could still use Google Keyword Planner combines SEOQuake Toolbar, free MOZ account, free aHrefs and free majestic accounts for checking on competitor.

In addition, if you have fund, SEMRush has more benefit than that. Why wait for building backlinks. You could start building it immediately and slowly or not. The point is to build steady quality links; not just build tons of links today and forget tomorrow and on.

I believe most advanced SEO`er are having and steadily building their PBNs. They buy other people PBN links for diversification or linking to their tier 1 or tier 2 links depend on the quality of the PBNs they bought.

Ahrefs, Majestic SEO, MOZ has free account plan with limited functionalities. You could search around for third-party service that provide access to those services with a fraction of cost. Alternatively, if you're not doing a lot of researching report, you could buy the report from others who sell this service with a small fee. Yet, I doubt those are better than having your own account. If I have to choose one, I'll better go with Ahrefs.

Hey thanks for the advice! I'll have to try Semrush in the next couple of days. By the way, have you ever used any website or software to automate any SEO tasks before? I have been hearing around the block lately that most people stopped using software like GSA because C&B gets kicked by Google real fast, and I'd rather do the opposite of C&B because I'd like my websites to stay ranking in the SERPs in the long-run nevermind for a few weeks because eventually the penguin update or whatever takes place and boom goes the dynamite, right?

Hey thank you and glad to be here. I heard that too. However, just social signals are not capable of ranking a new site I think. I believe they could certainly help the ranking process anyway. True. At least for me I believe it's certainly worth creating work yourself so you have 100% control over everything. And you can definitely learn a lot by doing things yourself. Although, I will probably try ordering a few PBN services in the future to see how they work, otherwise like you said creating work yourself is the way to go.

Thank you for your input! It does make a lot of sense to me now, build steady backlinks during the process and something like you said: quality over quantity I believe that's the saying for the correct term. I am really interested on using websites like Majestic SEO and Ahrefs, hopefully I could pay for the services in time. And of course, I'd rather do the reports myself then ordering them for a fraction of cost. Thanks again for the advice.

You can get semrush and majestic for $10/m each on fiverr.

Dont buy PBN links, not worth the money, just build your own.

I start building web 2.0s and a few blog comments about 1 week after the site is index.

Niche competition is hard to gauge when you are new to SEO, its something you pick up over time. After a while you can just take a look at the top 3 websites with majestic or ahrefs and know the competition. I guess you could look for some guides on this topic.

I do not use GSA because I don't know how to use it, but I can guarantee that a lot of people use it to rank and they will never get caught by Google. You just have to learn how to use it right.
