Hi BHW community ,
what are the first SEO steps you make when you launche a new website ?
should you wait for a few weeks before you start building links ?

No, just build it right away. It's indexing the backlinks that could take more time than building them.

First steps are to discover your audience, what they need, how you can add value to them as well as what are some angles.

Once you have that figured out, you can get started withc content, interlink it and build backlinks to properly rank in Google.

There's a lot more to ranking than that, but those are the basics.

Thanks for both of you guys, there is ,a really good community in this forum ( i have been lurking here for a while )
one more question if you guys may , is buying an expired domain name ( registering it again after it has expired) better that buying a brand new one ?

Also, set up your self promotion channels like Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, etc. Then create some content on those. Usually I'd start link building more aggressive in 90 days out depending on your niche. You need to pad first with these other links.

Plan first; scenario planning, contingency, revenue estimates (based on competitors or reverse engineering), plan again and plan and plan...... allocate resources; timeframe to work on, outsourcing, sending out invitations for backlinks and re-plan again.

Build all free branded whitehat links
Facebook , twitter , LinkedIn , YouTube etc

Don't really need to wait , but if it is a new domain , try send a pack of social signals to it first , drip feed over 2 weeks .

That will help making your website looks sort of viral and can escape sandbox easier

Keyword research
Make website
On page optimization
Build links

I think there is no issue if you have started your link building process from now but for me, first you can focus on posting the contents on your blog about your niche then optimize your blog with the search engine. After that, you can start to building the quality backlinks from your relevant niche sites.

The very first thing you should select your keywords and do on page seo against these keywords.
