First post. How to smash the competition?

If the guy you want to knock off is a real a-hole, use the scrape box and a public proxy as another person here has mentioned and blast out one single comment with his url to like 50k blogs. That might set him back a little as it will definitely look like bad spam.

All you have to do is to create more inner pages on your site and get them ranked just like you did for the #1 spot. At the risk of loclhero throwing a high hard one at me, I think that hurting your competition instead of outworking them is chickenshit.

How long do you think it's going to take for the search engines to pick up on this scrape box spam surprise?

I plan to hit him hard and fast with as many links as I can throw at him.

I'm the only one thinking this is a bad option?
You can actually be helping the guy outrank you with the scrapebox blast...

These should really smash the competition. If you want a good deal, let me know and Ill send you a link.

Seriously though, just use the search box.

Absolutely, those links might get indexed nice and slow and google likes them thus propelling your competitor to your spot. Link blasting someone else doesn't usually work otherwise it would be standard practice and it isn't.

Surely this happens a lot in the black hat world? People trying to take down their enemies? He could be trying the same tactics on me?

My website is completely white hat, I just feel like playing a little bit dirty.

If it was that easy, everybody would be doing it. Starting to think there is nothing I can do to affect his rankings?

I'd kick his ass by outranking him and dominating the first page. You'll also have a long term benefit from it by having a jillion quality back links to many inner pages on your site.

Are Search engines aware of such actions? am talking about mass spam backlinking your opponents.
Anyone can do that.

well, 2 things can happen:

1- Maybe some webmaster will complaint to his hosting and they will take te site down for spam... until he finds a new host

2- Google will sandbox him and later he will come stronger than ever and outrank him.

One simple advice. Use Senuke and write gazillions of articles, well spinned using same keywords you want to put him down and blast the shit out of those web2.0 properties. Upload YT videos for the same effect, dailymotion, whatever it takes... Submit your site to directories, maybe some will outrank him, you never know, bookmarks, the whole lot. but make your site stronger and those pages also, simply focus on that and NOT ON HIM!

If you focus on him you'll probably get the boomerang effect... it will turn backwards and hit you on the face :D

Outrank them. Easy.

Ok, the only way to outrank is by having more backlinks. These can take an age to be indexed.

I suppose I have waited long enough to get to my position now. A little more waiting won't hurt.

I'll get there in the end

Usually I'm against this kind of idea because I think efforts are better spent trying to promote your own site. Even if you're willing to disregard your ethics, the Snidely Whiplash method of winning usually backfires anyway.

But if what you say is true about him attacking you directly, then he's already set the bar. You could try googlebombing him to discredit his site, but you risk screwing up the keywords for your own site as well. You could do as some other suggested and click bomb his adsense, that will screw up his adsense account but won't necessarily sandbox his site.

You could do as also suggested adn try to build a few more sites and work to get them ranking on the first page as well. That should be a little easier than getting the first site there, because you can use that first site to help the others. Depending on how well your doing in the niche, you could possibly even go to some of your lesser competitors and offer to jv with you to get their sites to move up in the serp to outrank the asshole site. Any sales you lose to those sites could be offset by whatever you work out for the jv.

I don't know that I'd try any of those things other than creating my own additional sites. There's a lot of advantage in doing that even if you weren't doing it to deal with an asshole.

"I sense great darkness in you young vadar." lol Like someone else just said, rank up some other supporting sites to outrank his site and then that will push him down at least to where he is not right under you in the serps. "But why the younglings?"

surely id think your wrong.
yeah, you want to outwork and out perform but to attack?
if this was the case this forum wouldnt exist.

ive always hurd that BAD PUBLICITY IS GOOD PUBLICITY.
get creative to use his 2nd ranked site to boost business.
rather than run away and douche it out, attack the situation with a positive approach!
just sayin

These posts are popping up more and more, and all it does is expose how weak your SEO skills.

Anyone with a solid knowledge of SEO marketing will know how to exploit it for both good and bad purposes if they wanted to.

Asking for methods on how to ruin your competitors shows that you really don't have a solid knowledge of SEO which means you should definitely not even think about trying something as risky as trying to damage your competition.

Great post there Yuki.

I totally agree with you.

I will always take critique. I accept that my knowledge of SEO does not qualify me to become the next BIG SEO Guru.

For some reason when I think SEO I think - lots of 'quality' links (more than your competitor with decent anchor text) and a nicely on page optimised site. With this train of thought, I have made my site a PR5 and rank well for many of my selected keywords. So I can't be doing much wrong.

Back to the idea of creating more sites for the same keyword. The word that I want to knock my complaining competitor down on is my company name. How would the search engines feel if I were to setup a new site, hosted with the same company and then for my main site to give it some 'company name' backlinks straight from my homepage? I don't want to flag up the suspicious spiders and end up getting penalised.
