Just found this place and this is my first post. Since I am new, I though I would give out a cool tip that I use to bring in the bucks. I am not sure it falls into the BH category, but here it is anyway.

I have had great results from user generated content. What I have done is offered a small scholarship open to anyone. To apply for this scholarship the applicant must submit a 500-750 word essay on a specific topic, like writing a review for the college. The scholarship should be submitted to the big scholarship sites and schools will pick it up and you will get tons of .edu Bl's as well. It is a win-win. Someone get a small scholarship, you get 10k niche articles, and a heavy BL'ed site.

interesting. so you post the articles to your site and then submit to scholarships and they publish a link to your article????
 
No, places that offer free scholarship search services for free will link to your scholarship and get you the traffic. You then build a site with all the content you just for for pennies.

Since you are listed in the scholarship search engines, colleges look at these to post the scholarships on their own .edu sites.

k . so how do they get a scholarship if you are really not offering one? (the win/win thing?) (not that it's allll too imporatant...just curious...i'm a little 'slow' at the moment)
 
Well I have always paid the scholarship. It has always been very small.

Really? How much do you spend on the scholarship you are offering if someone comes and apply? Did you already accept an applicant?
 
When I first started reading your thread, I thought, "Wow, this guy is going to give us a tip and it will be great to give him his first Thanks." Needless to say, that did not happen.

Maybe you did not explain well enough or maybe it's just a scam, but I'm not sure how it all works... nor do I care to some degree.

Now, if you said, "People send me their essay and I put my URL in their essay and submit it for them and the URL is posted with the essay on a website and I get backlinks plus good page rankings and ocassionally the people that submit win, then that would be different."

Either way, you have found a great forum and welcome. Be sure to take your time here. Find a topic that is of interest and spend as much time as you can reading and learning and contributing.

$50 or $100. Once the entry period ends, usually once a year to maximize applicants. I randomly pick a winner, read the essay to make sure it's not crap and send them the money. It works out to about 1 cent per essay/article. You also have all of their contact information. I usually send out an autoresponder with an ad when I get the application = $500 revenue. I send one right after the period ends = $500 revenue. I send out one saying there is a winner, but they must visit the site to see who won = $1500 in ad revenue.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. ok. And so you set it up, submit to scholarship companies, and they send you applicants who then give you content and you have content and links!


but if the scholarship is small, do you really get many submissions???? o_O
 
so your doing a legit scholarship? then pick someone and pay them? How does that make you money?

Coyoteassasin, I would rather have 150 edu backlinks than 10k mediocre ones.
 
I have had submission periods that net 40,000 submissions. All with full name, address, phone number, email address. Basically you are buying tons of content and personal information for $50 or $100. I have ads on my application page and confirmation page and I make back the scholarship money I give out in the first 2 hours and most scholarships I give are given once a year.

Sorry if I have been confusing, I'm new.
 
How do you know what the big scholarship sites are? Just google them or do you have a list you use?

it's a lot like a lottery, except that since you're getting paid in content and opt-ins, you don't have to follow any regulations lol.

I tired to post the links here, but it would not let me. fastweb is the biggest and best for sending people. there are a dozen good ones. More money will come in if you open it to the world. scholarshipscanada sends me tons of traffic. I even submit to the books that are published every year. Petersons is a big one.

I have always been listed, but it is not a guarantee.

Wow, I have to say that's a really great tip...I can see that working really well. Thanks, welcome to the board!
 
Nice BH tip. This method could also be modified to other services. One member posted how he used a similar method and sold the leads to temp agencies. But really you are paying out money and using the leads just like car dealers, realters etc. But I agree the .edu links are the shit.

I have no idea what my first post was but I guarantee it wasn't as good as this.

One thing I would recommend is to get your legal jargon correct on your website so that you legally have rights to the content afterward and can contact the students in the future for information regarding the scholarship.

I was wondering what you put on your scholarship site. Like the purpose of the scholarship. Something dedicated and noble like: "The Mike Hunt Scholarship for Academic Mediocrity"? Or do you just put some generic thing like: "Sampson Inc. Annual Scholarship"?
