Hey guys!
As the title reads, this is my first post here but I have been lurking around for a little while soaking up the abundance of info here. First I just want to say thanks to everyone that contributes valuable information to this or any other thread on BHW. You guys are badass and without you, so many people like myself would be S.O.L. and paying Tai Lopez's Air BnB fees
.
Anyway, buckle up because this might be a long one and if it gets any traction, I hope to be able to add a lot of value for others and refer to it for many days to come.
So right off the bat, I'm going to clear some things up: I am not asking for "generic" advice like what niche to choose or how to find one. Nor am I asking how to "make money online" or how to use my IG account to make money from Bali. I have what I think are real, valid questions that you would expect from a newbie thats found himself kinda stuck.
I've crawled around BHW and picked up some great stuff like @yakuzaemme dropping bombs on this thread and several other journey threads that were both inspiring and informative. Despite my best efforts, I keep hitting a roadblock and I figured maybe it's time to reach out to all of you kind people for some support and guidance.
I'll start of with my goals then I will give more details on my current situation and skills.
Goals
That's because I know that I am in for a tough ride and this is going to take time. I set the goal of $5k because I want to push myself.
Currently
It's worth noting that I have used WP in the past and even played around with developing an affiliate site that went nowhere.
Last month, I took the dive and decided to go all in on IM and learn the craft so that I could build a better future for myself and my family and develop skills that would, at the very least, be able to land a desk job if everything went to shit for the 100th time... So I blindly quit my constuction job, created a FB page and built asquarespace really dope site. Now before I get burned about the SqSp website, I'll say that it was somewhat impulsive and I wanted to have a site up asap that looked decent while I refreshed my WP skills.
I then set out to give away some work to people that I knew (plumber, electrician etc) and most flaked on free websites/social pages. Finally, a good friend of mine with a pool cleaning service in Florida asked for help and I happily built him a somewhat basic 3 pager in WP with a premium theme and the usual plugins.
I treated him just like a customer, but without a contract: asking for likes, dislikes, other site examples, logos, media, etc.. We did revisions, made changes and compromised when necessary. The result is a site he is happy with and I am happy to continue to work on.
Along the way, I got excited about the idea of affiliate marketing again and quickly built out a site for a niche that I think has some great potential. The site is a product site built with Woocommerce, not a review page. I removed the cart and account profile settings and added products from the companies that approved my application. Along the way, I created a FB page and IG account that I have grown to around 700ish followers while posting a few times a week.
The site has <130 views with a bounce rate of 60% and no conversions. I know it will take time to get it on track and that is okay but I'm unsure of what to do next.
I've been using the free Yoast plugin and trying to get the hang of it, but I can't say SEO is on point or something I can do myself for a client.
About a week ago I just got bummed out after the buzz of starting wore off and I realized that I have a looong way to go and a lot to learn. I just kind of felt....lost... BUT, I refered to the community here on BHW and realized that I can do it, I just need help.
So here I am. Asking for help with the following questions:
I'm open to any and all suggestions, feedback, help or advice. I will also provide the URLs for the sites I mentioned to anyone that would be willing to take a look. I will also answer any questions and clarify things if needed.
Consider this an opportunity to help someone out that is highly motivated and willing to do exactly what is suggested. I will document it here or on another thread (whichever is more appropriate) and hopefully it will bring some value to anyone else that is in a similar position and struggling with the early part of their journey.
If you made it this far, thank you so much for being a part of this awesome community. I hope we all make it.

Goals
- Reach $5k/total earned from projects by November. Current earnings: $0
- Be on track for similar monthly earnings (>$2500/mo) following November and ready to scale.
- Gain enough skills in relevant areas to know what to expect/want from potential VAs or Fiverr/Freelance hires.
- Have a clear and defined set of skills to offer clients/use for personal projects.

So here I am. Asking for help with the following questions:
- Given that my skillset is currently limited to building basic WP sites, should I still attempt to offer SEO/other services and plan on outsourcing via Fiverr?
- What would be the logical and best skill to learn right now? SEO, FB Ads, etc?
- Should I just hit the sales hard as fuck as see what comes back?
- What would you do if you were in my position?
- For the affiliate site, what is the logical next step to take? Link building/buying, fixing SEO problems, adding products, switching to a review type of site?
