Hello,

There is a business listing on Google Maps that is first in searches for several keywords in my industry. It has 1 (5-star review), an address and a cell phone number. All the rest is empty. In positions 2, 3 etc. there are much more complete listings with more positive reviews, with a website, posts, services etc. filled in.

1. How do you explain this?
2. I'd also like to ask the experts, can the fact that customers click on Call contribute to raising the position of the listing in the ranking?

I'm not an expert in GMB listings but often websites that perform well organically appear high there as well.

How are their organic rankings?

Is this recent or was it like that for a while?

There was recently I global algorithm update that might have something to do with this.

In such case it's temporary anomaly.

Or PBN links pointing to listing are doing it.

Maybe it has something to do the age of the listing and sites linking to it?

Maybe they have way more business citations than the others. Could be a lot of things honestly.

This is definitely not due to the call's contribution alone. There are many listings with good reviews along with website posts and shares, so no one is going to call a listing with only one review Generally, users prefer listings with good reviews and proximity.

sounds like a little black hat seo fiddling going on

Reviews
Citations
Embed Map on High DA Backlinks (Must be Indexed)

also CTR

More like a Blackhat trick, Probably CTR technique as recently there are some niches where all of a sudden Fresh GMBs popped up among Top 3 without having decent number of Reviews or other useful info. But these do disappear soon imo or Outranked by GMBs with complete info, more legit reviews and Aged Websites having their Correct NAP details submitted on popular Citations sites.

1, take some high quality foundation backlinks
2. Google local guide reviews
3. Citations
that's can make your positins on first page.

GMB is a combo of traffic, reviews, and on-page SEO. I can run some CTR campaigns for you, depending on how good of a radius you have now. Check your PM.

Really ctr affects GMB? I would never have guessed since that’s one of the easier things to game

CTR is HUGE for GMB. I’ve ran campaigns solely using CTR and expanded the SoLV by 20%+
Your average CTR isn't very effective anymore.
Not true. It’s one of the last effective things, other than reviews, posts, and good on-page SEO.
