I always thought it would not happen to me, but is just all automated :)
Today this was on my paypal:
PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening the accounts in our system. We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information to help us provide you with secure service. We would like to return your account to regular standing as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

2 May 2011: You have received €1,800 or more in total payments to your PayPal account in this calendar year and are therefore approaching our annual receiving limit of €2,500. PayPal is required by law to comply with European Union Anti-Money Laundering regulations by collecting information from customers when they reach this limit. Please go to the Resolution Centre for more information on what you need to do.
(Your case ID for this reason is *************.)

How can I return my account to regular standing?

It's usually pretty easy to take care of things like this. Most of the time, we just need a little more information about your account or latest transactions.
To help us resolve this issue, please go to the Resolution Center.
We'll review the information you provide and email you if we need more details.
Once you complete all of the checklist items, your case will be reviewed by one of our Account Specialists. We will send you an email with the outcome of the review.
Now, all this is in my own personal name so I expect to resolve it quickly. I didn't even know there was a €2500 limit on paypal! I guess you need a business account for bigger ones.
It says I have 133 days to resolve this before my account gets locked, so I still can spend it all :)

Just FYI for the paypallers out there :)

pretty standard its the first one you get, just verify the minimum requirements and its good to go

its when you get over 15k or so that they really want everything

congratulations - that means you've earned enough that they are keeping watch over you! its just some simple checks, send them your driver's license with your pix on it plus any supporting docs and it will be up in 2-3 max.

Now my grouse is that they froze my account for this compliance check in Mar 21 and yesterday (barely 1 month plus later) they did it again. This time I AM FURIOUS!!!! Wrote to their compliance department to tell them that i had jumped through hoops for them, they had earned so much from me and they are making me do that again.

Makes me wanna go to moneybookers etc....!!!

They limited one account with only 740$ pissed me off. but if you call them and ask them you often get it back, I am not 18 so that was the reason. but now I use my dads paypal and get passed the 2500 limit in 1 week so they limited it that one as well, but my dad called them and that really speeds up everything. they right away started to solve the problem

So they raise the 2500 limit if you ask them to?

If you are europe, you can look forward to a payment processor called: Ideal. This payment method is a bank to bank processor that you can easily integrate in ur site. Till then we are fucked. Fuck, i hate it when someone gets to much power.

paypal only exists cuz they refund money to consumers, and these mofos know about this, so we outmarket ourselves if we dont us paypal...

Well iDeal is only available in Holland I think. We have oGone here, but that is all directly via visa etc, also bank to bank.
