First page on all except for Google

I have a website that is ranking on the first page of all the major search engines except for Google, where it is not even ranked at all.
I'm pretty sure its indexed because when I search with the 'site:' footprint it shows up, but a regular search won't produce any results other than internal pages.
I know there are a lot of possibilities, but I'm looking for reasons why this could be happening. Any Suggestions?

Besides SEO how long has the site been up? How many backlinks? What type of traffic are you seeing? They all impact the Google dance.
 
Its not a new domain. There are a couple thousand backlinks showing in Google webmaster tools. The SEO has been good enough to get to the top of the other search engines, but I can't figure out why Google is ignoring the site.
My best guess is that Google is viewing the links as spam because there were too many too quickly and they are being discounted. Is this common with Google and not the other search engines? Will the links ever have any value with Google if they were viewed as spam?

what is your keyword density like for the phrase your trying to rank?
 
The algorithm that Google uses is different from the others. How you rank on Bing is in no way connected to how you should rank on Google. I have noticed that Bing seems to give more weight to on site factors and less on backlniks but other than that who knows.

How old are your links?
Did you just drop a lot of links at one time and then nothing or were they built in a steady fashion?
 
The links were generally built pretty steadily.
The keyword density for the term that I am trying to rank for is about 15-20%. I know that is high but the competitors websites aren't much lower. Could that percentage keyword density be the problem?
 
Time is the biggest factor I've found.

I can get first page on Bing, Yahoo and Ask within days and no link building. Google on the other hand will stubbornly hold back putting you up until you've been around and received a good set of links.
