You could start with learning Python or C# as a beginner language - that i do recommend!

I think you should learn JavaScript/NodeJS/React etc.
Software development has shifted to the web, just look at Spotify/Discord/Skype etc, they are all HTML+JS inside a wrapper
Python is easy to start with, but will not be used for complex real-world applications or anything needing a GUI, unless they are specifically required for projects involving machine learning, image processing etc.

Good suggestions here. It really depends on what you're looking to do with programming. For web applications: Javascript / CSS / HTML / PHP / SQL (at least the basics of each, then you can move onto a framework.)
Darkrazor's suggestions are the languages I'd use for desktop applications.

Since you mentioned industry, I imply this means enterprise level companies.
My advice will be to go check detailed positions vacancies you'd like to apply for, check for requirements and go from there.
There are lots of detailed courses/bootcamps who specialize specifically on getting you on the career path. So you get all you need + recommendations on getting past interviews etc.
You'll have to grasp a lot of technologies along the way, language is just part (definitely not the most problematic to grasp) of the whole learning process.

I would suggest to start with learning Web Developments involves HTML, CSS, JS and PHP and Designing courses.
And learn basics of python too as its easy to learn.
Try to create a Blog/Website by applying all the learning into real time and showcase this with interviewer.
If you are still not getting the job then create the job. There are many opportunities out there as a freelancer and explore it.
