ok guys today i just made my first ig ad for post engagement. i am only spending 20 bucks i set it to 18-30, los angeles + 50miles, english language and my niche. i set the add for unique impressions so it only shows people once as that is all you need for right now. and for only one day to reach as many people that the $20 will allow. i will report my findings tomorrow or so

Sounds interesting how many followers does the account your posting ads on have?
 
Do you NEED followers near Los Angeles or just United States in general? The Instagram ads work like Facebook ads. I do believe you would improve your account a lot more by purchasing a shoutout from a page in your niche.

However I have never used Instagram ads since they are not supported in my country yet. Looking forward to your update!
 
i wanted it to be the greater la area usa in general is good but the greater la area is better for me.
i have purchased shoutouts on other accounts and so far the shoutouts have been better.
the ads are almost done so my report should be either tonight or in the morning.
 
i have never used ig ads but would love to see how well it works. OP let us know how it goes.
 
Hey guys ok time for the update

so for $20 i have reached 6,728 after the initial reach said only 1,500-3,500.
i have only reach 50 on the engagement scale with a cost of 0.40 per engagement. (focused on unique impressions)

i have reached 29 unique visits to my site from it so that is a plus and only one sale.

it seems with a way bigger budget something can happen but right now i dont feel the cost is justified. i would rather pay for shoutouts, build my own accounts, mentions, pay youtubers, sfs, etc those feel alot better than ads. but if your budget is lets say 500 you may have a better result i am just not looking to spend that much. i would try this again but later down the road.
 
If I can ask, how did you set up IG Ad ? I though they are only available to very large stores.

What sorta sale are we talking about? Amazon/Clickbank/Online Store?

i was allowed to set it up with their regular ad manager without using the power editor. they are rolling them out to the public so im not sure if current advertisers with them get first dibs but i was able to do it. keep in mind only certain options instagram allows
 
I do IG advertising for several clients and we do get better results but those aren't bad for the first campaign. The key is to adjust,tweak and retarget/remarket each time to keep improving results. There are a few media buying tutorials on here, read some and try again. don't quit now. Your second run can only be better.
