First Heartbreak with Apple (It Was Brutal : D)

Hope everyone had a nice week and cheers to a chill weekend ahead <3

Mine wasn’t so pretty though... my keyboard decided to mess up last Friday
4 keys stopped working and of course, one of those letters was part of my login password : D

The whole thing started right here on BHW at midnight last Friday. I was typing and a few seconds later I realized some letters just stopped working out of nowhere. Completely random : (

I thought “Aight, maybe a quick restart will fix this”

Oh hell... big mistake
The moment I got to the login screen, I realized one of the dead keys was in my password and now I was completely locked out of my own laptop



I have an external keyboard but it’s bluetooth not wired
So I couldn’t even connect it yet because… well, I couldn’t log in

I figured I'd just get a wired keyboard and solve the problem, so I bought one. Got it, plugged it in and then Apple hit me with the message:
“Unlock to Use Accessories”



At that point, I almost gave up completely
(Mind you, I already knew I’d probably end up replacing the whole keyboard but my attempt was just to get into the PC first and be able to use it for work until the replacement)

Then in that moment guess what came to mind to ask what to do next and oh boy it came to the rescue big time

It walked me through going into Recovery Mode, opening Terminal, and resetting my password so I could skip the broken keys. Luckily, the external wired keyboard worked in Recovery Mode

I finally got back in and could at least do some work using my bluetooth keyboard but man working like that felt so weird and my productivity tanked hard... I didn’t realize how used I’d gotten to working with my laptop keyboard instead of an external one (It's hard to explain)

Well well... Fast forward a few days, the replacement keyboard finally arrived yesterday. Got it fixed and everything’s back to normal (just right in time... another Friday when it all started) LIFE IS GOOD AGAIN : D

Rant Alert:
Apple really needs to add an on-screen keyboard option at the login screen, like Windows has by default. Poor UX in my opinion !

You should’ve seen me ranting about it all week to my pal. He absolutely enjoyed it since he’s on Windows and I’ve always been preaching to him to switch to Apple ever since I made the switch last year : D



So yeah, that was my week.
Oh, and to top it all off… I picked up a small injury on the pitch last Saturday. Still have a big bruise on my elbow : D

But hey... back online now and feeling human again. Happy Friday Y'all <3

I really don't understand why people use apple, i had the macbook, the ipad, the iphones, tested a lot of them, the 4 the 5 the 8 the x the 13 the 14 the 15

never kept any of them for more than an average of 15 days, max one i kept i think was the 13 i kept it for like a month or so

honestly stupid products, i ended up with samsung phones and windows pc all day long

edit: i'm not saying they're 100% trash, still, the iphone used to have a better camera, not anymore tho, for pcs, it's literally you're paying for the brand, nothing is better than a windows in any aspect, only for people that like to say "ye i have a macbook" fuck that

NGL I used to be the same... No one could convince me to leave android and windows : D

But after switching to iPhone and Mac these past few years, I don’t think I can go back now : )
I still have a samsung lying around that I only use when I need to test something on android or grab an app from Google play

I even kept my windows PC as a backup after I switched to Mac but I eventually gave it away since it was just sitting in the house and I never used for any backup situation

I'm glad I always live near a computer shop that stocks supplies, and fixes computers!

Was this course of action in your cyber recovery plan? Broken keyboard is already in mine, but i need a new mouse, and you've reminded me to take a look at another one spare in the next couple of weeks. Cheers. Glad to see you back to mission central! lol

This AI stuff really works good in technical issues, I mean computer or mobile related. Before I have to search tons of sites to find a solution.

Fr it’s such a nice luxury to have now. My mistake at first was not even thinking to ask ChatGPT

I went straight to Google and YT... searching everywhere and nothing really helpful

This is why I hate Apple. With Windows, I feel free to choose what I want. Glad that it's working now. I know the feeling of not being able to use your computer...on a weekend.

Yeah, that’s one vibe I def miss since switching to Apple... with windows and android almost everything’s flexible like using cracked or mod apps : D

And it’s football mate... I don’t know much about cricket and never played it before : )

Yes man, I’m just happy it’s all sorted out now

I also learned some lessons along the way... that’s the good thing about situations like this.

They teach you something you can use to help someone else who might run into the same issue : )

I never use Bluetooth for anything. Coming from dealing with Linux for many decades you just learn that’s a bad idea lol

The Bluetooth died in my Toyota recently. Mad as hell I couldn’t listen to any music. That old cord saved the day though right when I needed it.

It’s always fun until chaos like this happens : D
Everything I use is bluetooth, even my mouse.... it just feels more convenient without wires getting in the way

But after this experience, I agree… the best thing is to always keep a wired mouse and keyboard around, just in case.

For sure. I think Bluetooth is pretty much a requirement in most people’s minds at this point. Whether you want it or not you’re paying for it when you buy a computer. These manufacturers know how to get every dollar out of you.

I just use what I need when it comes to computers.

Also can’t stand RGB :: puke::
