I remember when I was just a kid (around 9 or 10), I would sit for hours on YTV.com and enter contests. But, I found out a way to increase my chances of winning. I would fill out the contest form, click "Enter", click back, add an extra letter to my name and click "Enter" again and repeat. I guess the spam detection was non-existent back then because I won about 5 contests, including 2 major $500 prizes of "Fairly Odd Parents" merch and Kraft food (lol). Funny how a simple iMacro script could do this today...

What was the first black hat thing you remember doing? Online or Offline :)

Spamming dating offers on *****.org and making around $200+ a day with Revenueads.....now im no more into BH stuff :)

Back in 1998 my very first porn website has just started and I was getting only about 20 jerks a day.
So I opened an invisible popup where used simple javascript reload along with an iframe to a porn PPC affiliate program.
This way I was getting 1000's of clicks daily:D
Gess what. I GOT PAID.:sgrin:

When I was a kid, Blockbuster used to keep the packs of new Pokemon cards in a case where you could reach in and grab packs to buy. I reached in, grabbed 10-15 packs, pocketed them, and sold the good ones to my friends/neighborhood kids. True story.

Just made few accounts in pokerstars and banked like 100$ with their bonuses. I feel guilty.

My first BH thing would be selling sweets at school. Not really Blackhat but because my Maths was so much better than the boys' that I bought from I got some VERY cheap prices. I then undercut them and sold to their usual customers.

Wow it sounds like I was a child drug dealer. It was only sweets I promise!

We also had a beer bop blackmarket at my school lol. Borders from Mexico would bring back suitcases of cheap candy and sell them for $1 a pop. They would also sell bags so people could start "dealing" themselves. It was the funniest thing, kids stood around on the playground waiting for other kids to buy beer pops. Eventually we had an assembly about it and they were banned. The most addicting candy ever...

I sent hundreds of emails out to varying top-name clothing companies complaining about the quality of a specific product. I would spent a max of 10 minutes per company finding a product that I might sort of want, and just change out the name of the product. I said that I always enjoyed their products in the past, but with this particular product it questionably just feel apart at the seems/stitches. Worked like 50% of the time, they'd just replace it no questions asked. Probably still works for a lot of companies

I bet we'll be getting a ton of posts from ppl who sold CD's back in the day, that seemed really common back in the late 90's

I remember it was like the mafia! Kids lockers would get broken into by people craving sweets. I was always very careful and took my stock with me or when playing football (soccer to the Americans reading) I'd keep one eye on the sweets and the other on the ball.

It's probably what got me into marketing. I always enjoyed getting the price down from the people I was buying from and then convincing my buyers to settle at a much higher price; by this I'm only talking a 20p profit per sweet but as always, it all adds up in the long run!

Generating like 10000+ websites with totally random words and highlighted (strong tag) keywords and ranking for log tail in our local search engine....sadly I don't remember how I monetized that...maybe I didn't

Passwording porn torrents on PirateBay, text file tells them to click on ad to 'activate' password on a MFA website, which was total bs. Made $2,500 in 3 days. Google banned me for some reason.

ScrapeBox blast and some of those links are still around!

mhm many things I did. One thing that I can remember:
I stole one of those "just to touch" dummy phones from a vodafone store . Then I sold it to some older kid for 10 Euro. When he realized that it was not a real phone he wanted to get his money back. Because I had already spent the money I borrowed a 10 Euro note from my mum and made a copy of it on a piece of paper. I gave him the money in some box so he couldnt really see it.
That got me into big trouble when he saw a bit later that it was fake almost got my ass whopped lol
