First $10,000 month - 4 months in

Hey guys, I just wanted to post on here and encourage you guys and say you can do it and to keep pushing. I had a $11,000 month in March after doing this for only 4 months with $5000 of it being residual. Its taken a lot of hard work but it is totally worth it! I have been using a few methods to achieve this: Networking has been my most valuable asset. My advice is to get into the public... as simple as that sounds, going to events like Chamber of Commerce has just been amazing for me. Well Good luck guys

I am at the open door stage right now. I have spent the last 2 months building the business (website, Legal paper work, formation, bank accounts....)I open the doors May 1st. Working from home until I can swing an office. I have not really done promotion work yet, but got my first lead last night. Owner of two long standing restaurants with very poor online presence.

Anyway this section has been the best thing for me in a long time. Thanks for the post showing the possibilities.

It depends where you live... If you live in a country where SEO services are poorly paid, or not at all, this is not a profitable technique.
I admire your enthusiasm and hard work, I also like getting out in the public and contributing offline to my business.
Congrats and good luck mate!

My Pleasure man, just keep pushing. Meet everyone you can...

Keep up your speed. Once you hit 50k month you will be able to fly First Class.

Guys what is critical is you dont undersell your service... $200? Really? Think about what you may have to do, most clients HAVE NO IDEA what the heck is going on.

On site SEO? Thats up to you!
Content? Even if you dont know their niche you have to learn and likely produce some good stuff ot go on the site or pay to have it outsourced. Not some poorly spun crap, but something that will make the owner look like an authority, and he is so crap wont work!
Link building? Are you going to trust your clients rankings on SB or Xrumer for long term?

Dont get me wrong, the automated approach still works but I use that as a supplement but you will have to try to get authority by getting them on wikipedia, high quality web 2.0 properties, guest blogging etc.. with all of those you will need unqiue and quality information or no one will be willing to give you a link.

Anyway with all of that in mind I think $1000 p/month is very fair for a medium comp niche, think value. Look at the adwords costs, look at the search numbers, make the client know what it would cost to get all those clicks and explain to them the value of what you are giving them.

I too am making most of my money with offline clients and they love me. I take their sites extremely seriously and I am working currently from 5 am until about 9 pm because I want them to succeed!

I agree the amount of work involved with SEO is tremdous. Sure it was easy with Senuke/Scrapbox and other SEO software, but that's not what you want to use. You should maunally working on the client sites, and have legit work done. Even writing one article can take between 1-2 hours depending on how good you are. Imagin doing that for 3-5 clients each month, plus builidng back links. $200/per month is too low.

Also, I would call you cloest SEO people see how much they are charging. My town for example, even thou it's really small town charges about $2000 just for website and up to $3000 for SEO. Your area also impacts the price, bigger city = higher price.

Content is King

I see a lot of people are focused mainly on cold calling.

I like the OP's approach. Establishing yourself as an expert and offering value before selling them is important. Giving free talks at your Chamber of Commerce and other such meetings are an excellent idea.

Remember, once they know your face and trust its a million times easier to sell.

I have tried to cold-sell for a while now and it hasn't worked very well, but I decided to change my strategy and focus more on joining groups and offering them free information.

This post was the final confirmation I needed to gain down my new route of selling.

My chamber has a Web Designer present. I'm guessing they would know about the other services. I might still go one day though. Did you have any competition in your area?
Yes Competition is present. There is plenty to go around as long as you have a quality service there is no reason to run from competition. Chamber allows anyone in, land them on online marketing and then they will sell the next person for you on website design.

Your Exactly Right.
"The best way to sell someone is to not sell them." Let them sell themselves, you just tell them what you know about online marketing... wow them with some cools facts..." Yellow pages has dropped to 12% of the directory market, Trumped by Google's 71%" I literally go to lunch 4-5 times a week with new people... asking them about their business and how I can learn from them. Then when they ask me what I do.. I woo them... thats it game over. If you can do that to the masses by giving a speech.... Yatzi..... most important thing is you give quality and take care of your clients!
