I downloaded Firefox but don't remember where I got it. It comes up with 'can't find proxy' error message. So I have to go to tools and uncheck the proxy everytime I use it. I have tried everything to get rid of it including getting a fresh copy from Firefox., Doesn't matter. Any help with this would be appreciated. Some BH probably done this for traffic to his proxy.
I even tried going into the Firefox files to change the pointers. I can change them but when I check back they go back to what they were.

Don't even bother screwing with your current installation, just uninstall it, get rid of the original installer exe, clean up your box, download the current version directly from Mozilla's site and re-install. If this continues, yu may have an actaive trojan on your box so run all the anti-virus and anti-nastiness tools that you can find.

I don't really understand but, you have a proxy Firefox add-on installed? If so, go to Tools -> Add-Ons, and then uninstall the proxy add-on you have.

When you uninstall Firefox, make sure these directories are deleted.

Documents and Settings\[whateveryourusername]\Application Data\Mozilla (XP)
Users\[whateveryourusername]\AppData\Local\Mozilla and Users\[whateveryourusername]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\ (Vista)

Then, reinstall. Firefox is probably picking up your old settings from those folders.

Thanks Bandit, that did the trick, now I have to put all of my add-ons and other stuff back in but it works great now.
