Firefox 10 what a load of crap

Hello,

I'm new here. I swear this keeps happening since I upgraded the Firefox. All videos freeze up and then my graphics processor takes a dump. Now you may say that has nothing to do with firefox, but, it works find in Google Chrome and other browsers. I checked add ons, ran all the spyware, etc but I really think it's a compatiblity issue. I am working on a Pavilion Dv7. I use the Firefox with the ******** Toolbars and Alexa page rank toolbar, backlinks etc. So I have to love my Firefox right?

Firefox 9 was getting on my nerves and now firefox 10 is just completely messed up. It hangs on pages for ages. It doesn't even allow particular anti virus extensions.

Crap as hell.

The only reason I've stuck with firefox for so long was for their add-ons i.e firebug
For instant access and speed I use google chrome
Use opera for saving sessions. I love that feature on opera!

They have totally gone down the drain.

I hate firefox but still finding myself using it out of habit. All I know is by the time I get 4 browsers open with a few tabs each, the whole system starts getting dragged down, I look at task manager and firefox is sitting there with 600k to 800k mem used, and releases nothing even if I close everything but one window.

And then when I close the last window, half the time firefox is still sitting there in task manager with 600k ram used and won't let me start it back up unless I end-task it.

I use FF 99% of my time, 1% Chrome
There were not much changes from v9 to v10, mostly firebug update.
And I don't optimise for IE6, I just show them a message that if they want to see my website properly they have to upgrade

For me Firefox is still the winner. The reason why they are increasing version number with every small update is because of Chrome. Those who are not internet junkies like us associate the version number to the latest browser with more features. So if they have to choose between Chrome 20 and Firefox 6, which would they choose? They would think Firefox 6 is an ancient browser even if it has more features.

So there is no need to get intimidated by the version number. The only problem I have with Firefox is its slow startup compared to Chrome. For everything else, I prefer Firefox. There was a time when I preferred Chrome when I saw that Chrome was using less memory. But after using Chrome for a while and adding a lot of addons like I did for Firefox, I saw that Chrome uses way more memory than Firefox! Some may not notice it because Chrome creates a new process for each tab and each plugin. If you add all those, the memory is way higher than Firefox. As soon as I found this, I jumped back to Firefox.

Besides, Firefox is the only true open source browser. :)

I used to be a big fan of Firefox until I discovered that Chrome is faster and better. I realized that my Internet surfing is faster and easier with Chrome.

I only use Firefox for its SEO plugins.

I primarily use Opera, it's fast without the Chrome spying nonsense, and certainly stabler than both IE and FF. Use FF only when I need to use an add on.

I actually tried Opera because it says I can store many inboxes there from different email accounts.. when I installed it, it was really complicated and had too much error "wrong info here this and that" so I uninstalled it.

I updated my firefox to 10 the other day and have had no issues at all, i have tried all the other browsers out there but i still go back to firefox.

Installed Chrome, Firefox & Opera

In daily usage percent:
Chrome 85% <- the winner
Firefox 12% <- when need another browser simultaneously
Opera 3% <- no idea

EXACTLY, the same layout I use. Chrome is leaps and bounds the best.

Have to agree... FireFox has gone from Bad to Worse!!

Its just a complete ball-ache at best.

Chrome wins hands down for stability and resources and speed!

Where the hell did you get those numbers? That is utter bullshit. So basically according to your stats, nobody uses IE?

My preference is FF 3.6 with Chrome a close second but here are real numbers

Source Internet Explorer Firefox Chrome Safari Opera
Statcounter 38.7% 25.3% 27.3% 6.1% 2.0%
Net Applications 51.9% 21.8% 19.1% 5.0% 1.7%
W3Counter 31.2% 25.5% 23.8% 6.3% 2.6%
Clicky 40.0% 24.5% 25.0% 9.2% 1.3%

sorry for the f-ed up alignment

Did you even bother reading the god damn post, smartass?

FireFox has had a memory leak for a long time that has never been patched up. Over the years, as it's gotten heavier (more shit to load) it's gotten worse. I constantly have to close the FF task unless I have only a couple of tabs open.

The only thing I have FF for anymore is Firebug, which hasn't quite gotten all the way to Chrome yet. After that, it will probably get buried in my Start menu with all the other browsers I never use.

BHW members using chrome??? come on guys. don't do that...

I believe FF is only valuable for guys who do SEO (rank checking, SEO tools add-ons).

As for me, Chrome can easily hold 20 tabs while FF can barely hold 10 tabs at once.

The 20:10 ratio for me is more than enough for me to love Chrome big time despite the consistent updates that the FF has.

Firefox 9 kept freezing on me...

Downloaded Chrome and everything has been cool ever since!
