Hi BHW members interested in Tik Tok. By no means is this revolutionary information but I think it is a good reminder for us all and know that to some it will be quite helpful.
Note: As of right now I get 95% of my content from Instagram
Like many others when I started, I would spend just a couple of minutes on IG, quickly scrolling through videos trying to find ones that had a lot of views, likes, and comments (but mainly views because that number is bigger). Yet after a while, I realized my account could and should be growing faster, and I became mad at the algorithm (Tip: don't do this). This became especially so when videos that went viral on Instagram were unable to transfer over to having success on Tik Tok.
After a break from Tik Tok though (3 months), I decided the craziness of our current world would offer a good time to get back into the game. As a result, I had to find content to post. However, my approach now is different from before. In fact at first, over the course of an afternoon I spent half an hour studying viral content on Tik Tok and writing down what I noticed (I did this across niches). Also, I went back to my old videos and compared the success of the videos on IG to Tik Tok, studying what I found as well.

In what I found, it is quite simple but important nonetheless. Users on Tik Tok (who we need to cater to in order to aid the algorithm) desire a "story" and by playing to MULTIPLE emotions within the short span of the video (excitement, happiness, sadness, realization, etc..) they will finish it, like it, etc....
So when it comes to finding content, be thoughtful, look at more than views (comments are a good indicator) and actively put yourself as a consumer of the niche you are in. Also, if you wouldn't watch it twice, it is often not worth posting it and you need to keep looking. I have found that the chances of my videos going viral have increased tremendously since applying these simple ideas more actively.
TLDR: Find content that has a story behind it and play to multiple emotions
