Finding Unclaimed Money Business

What about getting paid for finding people's unclaimed money? A person could just buy an yearly membership where you could perform unlimited searches for peoples unclaimed money. Once you found a couple people with somewhat high amounts, then you could purchase a lifetime membership with a company where you can perform unlimited background checks for life. After you get their telephone, or address, then you will be able to call or write to these people and let them know that you can get their unclaimed money to them. But with you getting a small percentage of the money, or a finders fee.

What do you peeps think about this idea? Has anyone ever tried this? All I know is that people would love to be called and told they had free money out there, and that they did not have to put in any effort to get it (except a little money).

people solicit this all the time. most of it is trash and i presume a scam. they want upfront money to get money thats yours.

if they truly could collect money for you, they would happily operate on a strictly percentage fee. they are in it for a quick buck.

I have been thinking of doing the exact same thing for a while now, based on a percentage fee. Surely It cant be too hard to track people down can it. Finding things like lost 401K's etc. PM me if you want to discuss

Hate to tell you this, but first most places have that free resource. 2nd, most places have a law against businesses claiming for others and taking profits from it.

Rethink the business model

If I was going to peruse this endeavor, I would also work to reunite people with unclaimed real estate from their family or whatever. There would definitely be a larger amount in this. I will have to check out and see if any laws apply like effinoutrage says.

I wonder if a person could find random people who have unclaimed money and then get a hold of them. You would be doing this person a service, because not everybody has a computer or the time to chase after this hidden money.

I did this as a kid back in the 80's, the problem was getting them to sign up. but at the end of the day I would find 4 or 5 people in a month and get 20%...

the trick for me was door hangers, and mailings.

but since the 80's the laws changed in the USA, I don't know if it's legal anymore.

You would be amaaazed how much money ppl are owed. However around 70% of the people choose to leave it on the table.

There is a market for this and i am in it. Please PM me if you think you could add value to this type of venture in anyway.

We dont do any membership thing you were talking about, ppl come to us, for some of them we find unclaimed money from varius avenues and others we cant.
