What I'm trying to do is find keywords or keyword combinations that have low competition. So words people are searching for, that don't necessarily have a lot of results. I'm hoping that by filling the void, I'll gain some traffic to either web pages or youtube videos. I'm familiar with Bum Marketing but I'm not sure that information is accurate these days. Google really likes to manipulate search results.

I signed up for ahrefs.com hoping to gain some more insight. They show keyword difficulty but I'm not sure that will be accurate either.

Can anyone recommend a better approach?

I'm following this tutorial at the moment:

Additionally, I also use Keyword Snatcher to find long tail keywords and, after letting the software run for 5-6 hours I usually end up with more than 10k long tails, but.... being the lazy mother fucker that I am I never do anything with the keywords, so yeah.... I'm not sure what type of competition any of these keywords get. But if you're not braindead like me you can probably make use of these tips and actually make money

Most of the time, low search volume keywords do have much less or no competition so they would be easier to rank for,
Make a list of your possible targeted keywords using ahrefs and then do make a fast SERP analysis for each of them,
Do check how many in SERPs do target the specific keyword(s), how good are the domains/pages, are the pages on-page optimised, etc...
Then you can decide based on the comparison of your website and these and how much would you make investing in these

You can cross-check those keywords which you sort out from your list with google. There you can find a fewer number of websites which is already ranked for your main keyword. Less number of sites means there may be less competition according to your keyword term.

Use keywords everywhere extension to collect long tail clusters
Initially, focus on topics that forums rank for.

this is what I do too, but is it possible that although there are no sites that target that keyword, my site struggles to make it to the first pages? how do you handle this?

Google will have no option but to pin your post to the top to satisfy that search intent. Did you give this a try or just confused?

I have published various articles on keywords that have not been targeted (i.e. they have a lot of user-generated content in the serp on sites like quora and reddit or sites that don't have that keyword in the article), but despite this I don't understand why mine site remains blocked for example on the fifth page

Years ago I managed to beat a few sites. My articles would show up as the first result when searching for a company, even though that company already had a well established web page. I think Google manipulates results a lot more now.

First, you have to identify your target audience and put yourself into the shoes of a customer when you create your initial list of keywords,
Understand the long-tail keywords and use keyword research tools.

Hi there,

When it comes to finding the right keywords for your business, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. Here are some tips on how to find the right keywords for your website:

1. Research your competition

One of the best ways to find the right keywords for your business is to research your competition. See what keywords they are targeting and see if there is an opportunity for you to target a similar keyword.

2. Use keyword tools

There are a number of different keyword tools available online that can help you find the right keywords for your business. These tools will provide you with data on search volume and competition so you can target the right keywords.

3. Think about what people are searching for

When you're thinking about which keywords to target, it's important to think about the right questions people might be asking right now. Try to consider what your competitors are doing. If they have a customer question that you can answer better than they can, then target that keyword and add it to your content!

cheers

You should do this kind of research on more different tools such as Google Keywords Planner, Ahrefs, Ubersuggest, SEMrush, and so on (can even make a free trial account if you are not into investing now, and need it just for the one job) and compare the results. Then see which keywords your competitors are targeting and see if you find any matches or not. Once you got the results you could even go through them manually and see which results are being shown on Google to see in reality how hard they would be for ranking.
