My gmail account was recently hacked and about 1000 emails to people in my contacts list directing them to go to a particular website . I was able to track down an IP address that accessed the account along with the IP of the site they were recommending people visit. What I'd like to know is how best to put the smackdown on these assholes. I hate the fact that someone was able to do this and that they chose me. I generally keep to myself and don't mess with others. The offending IP that gained access comes from China and the IP for the site is in amsterdam. I greatly appreciate any ideas you BHW can provide. It's not my area of expertise, so I'm feeling pretty clueless right now. Thanks in advance.

It's kinda obvious you will never catch them from what you said. This is a common thing. Your info is mined and sold. You and millions of others... so dont take it personally. It's just "business" (be it black hatted yes).

You'll jump through gateway after gateway tracing it only to find the address came from someplace in the land of make-believe where gnomes rule the center of the earth.

i dont remember web there are expert hackers you find on the net offcourse paid for kicking ass to those noobs who hacked you!!!

p.s nest time generate 16 digit password , with an generator offcourse and then use it on important stuffs!!!!

p.s if you traced ip form china i didi like to tell you in advance not to mess with them !!! dont take it personaly but those moth...fcke...s are good at what they do and its impossible even for an very good hacker to track him down and pin him out !!!!!!

so just let it go for this time and remember to be care full next time!!!

hope it help you in some way ......

take care

DDos?
Or you could contact the IP's ISP, and ask em to give you info about that guy. ;)

Change your passwords and forget about it.

Mind the fact that they probably at least had the chance to access all of your other passwords too. But chasing them is a waste of time, if all they did is send email. After all, we're all just trying to earn our keep ;)
