Read a very interesting blog post today from someone who uses Google alert to alert him whenever anyone posted anything to do with his keyword.

And here's the interesting bit (for those who don't want to read the article):
Obviously if Google Alerts was alerting him as to what was going on, then of course Google by definition knows something is happening too (I wonder if their spam team has alerts set up too!) LOL
Careful out there and don't build links too fast.

By accident I discovered one of my competitors online, the Google Alert for my keyword string was going nuts.
Using Google Alerts for your keywords, especially on profitable (not just AdSense) terms is stealth SEO tactics 101. (I see some of you rolling your eyes, like, ?No kidding!? But if I told you who this was that I found, you?d think he?d know what he was doing?)
I?d get 3-4 emails a day for this set (I set this string of keywords to alert me ?as it happens?). Curious, I opened up the alert and found that a certain someone, in fact the same username was getting links to forums all over the place.
I followed the link and found out that they were going into hundreds of forums ? I did an exact search using ? ? in Google and found 217 listings ? and these are only the forum profile links that are indexed, I?m sure there are hundreds more waiting to be indexed.
