Hi all, I have heard alot of people ask me about how to build backlinks / how to get their pages indexed and more importantly ranking for a specific keyword.

Now, I have always had the notion that it is easier to spend some time doing proper keyword research to find the golden keywords with good traffic and little competition then it is to spend hours bulding backlinks for very competitive keywords.

What I am trying to say is that there are two approaches

    1) Spend the time finding long tail keywords with little competition using a good keyword tool(s) and then it is easier to rank simply because there is very little competition

    2) Spend countless hours building backlinks in the hope of ranking for very competitive keywords

Ask yourself, is it better to get 1000 visitors a day for a competitive keyword and having to constantly build backlinks
is it better to get 1000 visitors a day for a variety of non-competitive keywords without having to build backlinks.

Next, how do I find these keywords?

    1) Get a hold of Keyword Research Pro and Micro Niche Finder
    2) Open up Keyword Research Pro and enter in your keyword
    3) Get approx 1000 keywords for the keyword only using Google as a source
    4) Go to the filter keywords section and remove all keywords that are less then three keywords and greater then nine. Also remove keywords that have a search volume of less then 1000
    5) Import these filtered keywords into the analyse section and then get the Competition volume of these filtered keywords
    6) Import these analysed keywords back into the filter keyword section and remove those keywords that have a google competition of > 30 000
    7) Remove those keywords that have a KEI < 16 000
    8) The resulting set are keywords that you will most probably be able to rank for easily

    Next step

    1) Open up Micro Niche Finder and import these keywords and press search
    2) Check all the keywords text boxes and click on the 'Get SOC' button
    3) Remove all the keywords that have a SOC > 15

All done, you know have some keywords that you should be able to rank for without too much backlinking.

Good oost, was surprised there weren't any comments. Guess there is SO MUCH here on BHW, it's hard to stand out. Your stuff, while not new, is certainly relevant and worthy of a bump.
