Finding ideas for posts?

I've been trying to write blog posts consistently, but I've found it hard to find ideas of what to write about for my history/facts niche. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to find stuff to write about. I don't want to just spin pre existing articles, part of starting a blog was so that I could improve my writing skills as well.

Well it's history and facts. It's all there for you. Put your spin on it.
 
If you think about it, History/Facts is probably one of the biggest niches to target in terms of "content" as everything as we know it today has a history & a past, just do your research on past events, products or countries and I'm sure the amount of ideas you'll be provided with will be endless.

It sounds like you are taking this too seriously and removing the enjoyment part out of writing. History is an immense subject. It should be easy to find topics that YOU find interesting. And once you do find them, it's not like you have to spin articles - you can focus on a certain piece of an article you find, use multiple articles as sources to create your own unique article, create lists, etc etc.

Start right from wikipedia.open source platform! .You can use it,if you know what i am talking.
 
Use buzzsumo and topsy to see what kind of content are doing well for your keywords.

Writing a content is an art and you can find a lot if stuff on different credible sites. Ezine and hub pages are very useful sites for a writer. Just go through the article provided on the site and then create your own content inspired by them.
 
Do you tried look what competitors do? There are plenty ideas on other sites... ;)
 
You can't change history and write more about it .. Just be relative and do some kind modern rewriting.
 
Go to buzzsumo.com, type in what you wish to write about. Try to be a little more specific then "history". It will show you the things that got the most social shares. Pick one of those and use it to go deeper into the subject, or make the article better. The site shows you that people are interested in that specific article.

You can also go to a question asking website and look for the questions with most views within your niche and write an article answering it as people seem to be interested in the question.
 
Writing random content will not help attracting visitors to your site. Do a keyword research will low to medium competition and find information about them and write article afterwards. (Assuming you know how to use that keyword in your post) :)
 
Inspiration is the key. Sometimes take a week off from blogging and travel to inspire yourself.
 
go visit the other sites the same niche with your site, it can make you find inspiration. :)
 
Your niche has many sources on the web. You just need to search and search until you find what you are looking for. For history/facts there are times when you can't really help but spin content. What you should do is gather enough information, compare and do your best to come up with original as best as you can.
 
A good way to find topics is to listen to your readers. Answer their questions as articles. Expand on previous articles until you find other inspiration. It keeps you coming up with new ways to present old content.
 
I would go with what interests you, the more you're interested in a topic the more it will show in your writing.
