Finding good domains for PBN

Looking for domains on expireddomains.net is a lost cause and your just wasting time.
You need to either buy domains from auction which will cost at least $100 for anything worth buying.
Or find domain sellers, these will cost you about $40-$60 each.
I dont recommend the $5-$20 domains you see in the marketplace but if its your only option its better than nothing.

I'm trying spend as less on my PBN as possible.. sure there should be other options?

PA/DA/PR aren't as important as getting a domain with GOOD links. Links like Wikipedia, DMOZ, and other high authority sites if possible. You can buy good domains fairly cheaply here on BHW, or even on Fiverr. But you may go through a few before you get a golden one.
Or you can just buy brand new EMDs of low value keywords and use them as PBNs. Won't carry the power, but you can grow them.

I've been spending quite a bit of time in the last few days sourcing for good domains to setup a PBN network. I had come to the conclusion pretty quickly that it's very difficult to find a good enough domain that are at reg fee. Any decent domains, with a good link profile, especially with links from .edu and .gov websites always go into an auction, during which it goes for several hundred dollars. So I decided to bite the bullet and placed a bid on both two auctions. Both of these domains have a DA and PA of 45+, and a CF, TF above 30. I figure just having 15 such domains in my portfolio would already give me a powerful network, so I don't mind spending.

You've got competition, mate. And your competition is checking thousands of expired domains per day.
You're probably better off buying cheap sites to start your PBN.

It's about valuing your time properly. If you spend 6 hours to find a domain you would pay 30.00 extra for, you just worked for $5/hr.

Do you want to spend a lot of money or not is the first thing you need to decide? Apart from that, if you don't mind spending at least 3 or 4 days of searching on expireddomains, then it's worth it. Some worthy PBN sites have come from this website. I can provide a list of sites that you should avoid:

expireddomains.net is waste of time. Use FreshDrop instead or Scrapebox.

One roundabout way, you can find expired domains is not through websites that list expired domains.
I hope you can see what the problems is with that approach.
The problem is you're not the only person looking for dropped domains that target certain niches.
Not only is there more competition, but there's a high likelihood that you'll have to pay a premium for dropped domain in your niche.
The good news is that there are quite a number of dropped domains that you can find by simply spidering websites in your niche.
There are tools like Screaming Frog and others that will help you find broken links.
You can then feed the domains found in these broken links into main SILO or other bulk domain checkers.
Once you're sure that they are available, you can then have a virtual assistant run some filters on the available domains like Domain Authority, how many backlinks it has, make specificity and indications of spam backlinks.
I hope you can see what the problems is with that approach.
