I find expired tumblrs using scrapebox, alive checker and vanity checker. You just have to realise though that its a numbers game here. Many of these shall be removed sooner rather than later. but if you have a few that stick, then its great for rankings. In some simple niches, the tumblrs themselves will rank very easily. I think there was a sales thread here on them.

Great thing for opening this up. The replies are awesome, it gave me more idea that will be useful for my website. I will still go for my original web 2.0, but I can add these expired ones and hope for a good result.

I use Xenu link sleuth, then dump into scrapebox, then using domainspoon to check for DA, PA (not sure if the owner is operating the service)
