It's funny, keyword research is just one part of SEO. It is just the beginning (It is important though). A whole lot of SEO and other things are left to do. But people who are so obsessed with keyword research include ME.
I recently shared a KGR keyword method, if you are liking to know more about keywords

It's so important though. Like the foundations of a house, if you don't spend time to get them right, it doesn't matter how good the rest of the building is, it will not be stable at all.
