Finding backlinks - Google cockblock

So earlier today I was searching for forums that I could use to link back to my sites for PR link juice. I searched google for inurl:".edu" forum. After viewing 2 or 3 pages of SERPs google threw up this message:

We're sorry...

Are there other ways to do what I'm getting at?

Something else is causing this. Perhaps a virus. Something on your machine is quering google too often. Doing normal searching through your browser regardless of what you type in... will not cause this.
 
I get this message when I run KeywordElite or something else witch is sendig request to google....Did you run some program when you got this?

I get this message whenever I use one of those toolbars that shows you ''Page Rank'' ''Alexa'' ''Yahoo Links'' etc etc.

Strange thing is though, it's only when I have one running on Firefox. I.E has been running one for months without any trouble.
 
Hmmm, yeah I was doing it by hand in Firefox, and I have the google toolbar running in FF. Don't detect any viruses here. The only red flag that I thought of in the moment was that after the search, I picked on a random SERP page and then another in no particular order, and fairly quickly, as opposed browsing the pages in order.

Besides niche keywords, what search parameters would make it more specific? .Edu sites especially call anything a forum, as opposed to the internet sense of the word.
 
It's just google acting up, use yahoo.. They got some keyword of certain phrases which they ban if they think you are getting mass info for spamming purposes, does the same for hacking/cracking..

The only other thing I can think of is SeoQuake that could cause that..
 
I get this a lot. It happens when you do too many searches too quickly, or when you use certain keyword programs, or when you use the allintitle, allinurl, etc. and go more than a couple of pages deep.

It usually resolves itself in a couple of hours, but it's a real pain while it's happening.
 
trophaeum used the shorthand without the '.' so it looked like a word rather than an acronym. Give me a break I am sleep deprived, I thought he was referring that google was as useful as a kind of bread in this respect. Which bread?

i had this message when i searched links with automate searcher i downloaded from here.
but the message was just for 2 or 3 hours. after that it disappeared.
