Hello again everyone! I'm actually a bit frustrated now.. I can't seem to find a niche. I'm not asking for anyone to give one to me. I've read many niche guides but for every niche i search and check keywords for, seems like it's all taken.

Any tips you can share with me?

-With much appreciation, Em.

Just stop fucking around and get in there. :) I assume you're just starting so the most important thing is to pick something, anything, and get rolling with it. You don't need an exact match domain - just find a product you want to promote, get a niche domain that sounds good, and start putting up pages and building links.

I would personally recommend something with moderate competition that is a proven money earner rather than some really obscure oddball shit with no good affiliate programs. Pretty much anything on Clickbank with a gravity over about 50 is a good place to start.

I was planning on doing both adsense and clickbank, would that be good for my first niche site?

I'm on the same boat, i found one or other niche but i found that micro niche isnt for me, i made one and i believe its too much work for too little income. My aim right now is one authority site, but i don't know what niche to pick. Already thought about accounting/bookeeping, some tech stuff and now i'm searching about insurance, wich is really interesting, there is a lot of money, but there is a lot of competition too.

Oh and i found some niches on google adwords, just type anything that comes in your mind and filter it by country, cpc, searches that you want. I found around 9 EMDs with this.

I thought the higher the gravity the more competition though? Is there a gravity range sweet spot to look for?

My 2 Cents!

To make a Decent and Professional Sales/Affiliate Sites dont stuff your sites with ads! let it be Clean!

Steps to Get you Started..

1. Find a Product with 50+ Gravity.. (150+ Preferable.. More Gravity Tougher Competition..)

#Its not just about finding product, its about thinking how hot it is.. Usually i will find a Product which offers me a sales page (Complete Sales Funnel)

2. I Will get a domain.. Use Noble Samurai to do it..

3. Do a Good Onsite Optimization around you keywords.

4. Have a Good Site Structure

#3 and 4 can be done with Traffic Travis and Even Domain Search!

5. Create XML Sitemaps

6. Submit to Top 5 Search Engines along with your URL..

#Helps in Indexing..

7. Do blog Commenting for Two Months and build Links slowly..

8. After 3~6 Months, Start Link building with full Velocity and Maintain Consistancy..

You will Rank Good.. If you need to know how links can be build do let me know... These are basic Steps to do... I Can Help you else you can Search in Forum about it... :) There are many big Players around!

It's a tricky one because there isn't a direct correlation between competition and gravity, since gravity is basically just a measure of how many sales a product is getting. Also there's no correlation between how competitive a niche is and how much money you'll make working in that niche.

For some so-called competitive niches, there's still heaps of long tail keyword real estate you can hit quite easily. For example, most of the highest gravity products on CB are internet marketing products. That's not a niche I put much effort into because I perceive that it's very competitive (and pretty scammy). However I've been sending my meagre IM traffic to what was the highest gravity product on CB last time I checked (Fast Cash Commissions) and I've been making quite a few sales because the product converts well, and averaging $100+ per sale because of all the aggressive upsells. So even though the gravity of that product / niche and common sense would indicate it would be tough, I'm actually making good money out of what should be a prohibitively competitive market.

However IMHO the biggest clue gravity gives you is not about competitiveness but whether the product converts or not. The easiest way to not make any money is to send your traffic to something that just isn't going to convert the customer, and a decent gravity (say 50+ as a very rough benchmark) is a good indication that at least someone is managing to sell the product.

Generally in my experience, high gravity products also convert the best, and I make my niche decisions primarily on whether there are good products to promote in that niche or not. It's no good generating a bunch of easy traffic in a low competition niche, only to find that there are no decent products to promote and no decent paying Adsense clicks because no one else can make money in the niche either. You may as well have entered a more competitive market and made less traffic, but been able to convert more of it into cash because there are already good monetization options in place. Even if your sites are shit and you're in a competitive (but profitable) niche, you're bound to get at least some traffic that can then be converted into money.

So that's my take on gravity: just make sure that someone is making money from the product / niche, and use that as an indicator that there's money there for the taking.

What's everyone's opinion of starting with a blogger domain because it's free and then once you make some money and prove it's a viable niche you move the entire site to a similarly named domain

What are the professional opinions on my first site being with adsense/clickbank?

I've actually started this tonight, I'm thinking if I can make enough from this '.blogspot.com' to buy a EMD domain, it MUST be worth doing it.

How to find a niche:

Google, "hot trends" "current top selling products"

read yahoo buzz, read ebay/amazon top seller's list

Google, "List of medical diseases" copy and paste into adwords see what you can find.

Remember that long-tail keywords are what you are aiming for most of the time, and remember to click the little radiobox to "exact" and not "broad" when doing a keyword search .

It starts with you brainstorming and slowly searching for monetizable keywords related to the niche. You'd be surprised some of the things people search for or how much changing a common word can make a huge different in monthly search queries.

Bah it just seems like everything I try is already there

It sounds like you're getting too hung up on exact match domains. EMDs are only a tiny part of the equation and they'll only help you rank for one specific keyword. Especially if you are new to SEO, your traffic will / should be coming from a large rank of long tail keyphrases, not just one keyword. EMDs are a small part of the big picture; I personally don't really use EMDs at all, except accidentally.

Also re: starting with a blogspot etc., yes that is a good idea, but only because it's free and it lets you experiment without a high cost. Whether you can make enough money to buy an EMD or not is fuzzy thinking, because it will be a reflection of your own site building and marketing skills if you make money or not, not a reflection of the niche you're in.

Your first goal should be learning how to put a decent site together and most importantly how to get backlinks and generate traffic. If you can't generate traffic then you are dead in the water. Inevitably your first few sites will completely suck and you should expect to lose money (or at least not make any money) at first. You might strike it lucky, but chances are that you will be buying yourself an education until you can learn enough and tweak your formula so you're profitable.

Just roll up your sleeves and get in there.

Define what you want. You want a niche? A keyword with EMD?

I believe you are doing you research focusing on the wrong thing. First you define what you want to promote, click bank, adsense, etc. Then you are going to define the niche, you do this checking cpc, searches on adsense and gravity/comission rates on clickbank.

After defining what is your target you need to define how to hit it. You want SEO, you have a few options on SEO, do you want to target one keyword with EMD and a few long tail? Or make an authority site and aim to bigger keywords? Or you want to start with the first and end with authority?

Without defining this you can't choose your niches, the ones i found was with all of this in mind, i was searching for a EMD .com, .net or .org for adsense with at least 1000 US searches and U$1 CPC.

I'm no expert, in fact I didn't made my first dollar with IM, but i'm pretty sure this is one of the best ways to define the niche.

Well I don't think i'll be starting with a blogspot, just a small domain. I can cancel the hosting service if I want to, right? Or do I just buy it for 1 year at a time?

I am prepared to fail. Well actually, thinking about it I might do a small blogspot to start out with. I could do clickbank with it.. sharecash.. possibly adsense if i update it enough. A lot of people make money with blogspot with their domain, right? :o

Look, it's really easy. I know it sounds silly, but do exactly what I'm telling you now. Turn your head to the right and to your left and write down what you are seeing there.
I see my window, my curtains, a candle, my fat black cat :D, my ground tiles, a cable on the ground, my vacuum and so on.
Put those keywords you just wrote down in a keyword generator tool and here you go. Lots of keywords. Now you can check if one or more of those is suitable for a niche.
Simple but working.

So pretty much just enter whatever I see and then see if there is traffic to made for it? Sounds simple enough

Yep. Just don't forget to use a keyword generator, it gives you a wider range of keywords. For example, a keyword like "candle" is too general and it would be really hard to rank for it. But something like "red candle" or "birthday candle" might be worth a try.
