It should rank to get traffic, rank on Google, bing, yahoo, pinterest. If it's popular your will also get direct traffic.

A blog Post can reach readers naturally with great content and SEO, But using tools like keyword research and social sharing helps a lot.

You can technically create articles on low competition keywords and gain traffic. Yes
But for ranking in higher volume keywords you might need to use tools/services to gain authority on your website
