Ok, this may seem like a silly thing to care about, but is there a way to view "Find all thanked posts by user" filtered by date range?

The creators of the post thanks hack really did a good job of solving the problem of vbulletin threads being overrun with thankyou posts. It's a lot nicer to read through a thread full of useful information without having to skip over a bunch of thankyou replies. It makes it easier to keep your mind on the topic while you're reading. It also gives members a way to see which of their posts are considered the most worthwhile. Making quality posts is a lot easier when you're getting feedback about them.

When I first started making posts on this forum, I didn't really give any thought about recieving thanks. I don't think I really know much more than anyone else, and a lot less than many people on here. So it really came as a bit of a surprise when I started recieving very much thanks and rep for my posts. The thanks themselves are nice and really appreciated, but more importantly by recieving them it gives me an idea about the type of things I do know, that people actually think are helpful. Offering some good helpful information actually is my goal when I make a post. Without the feedback I probably would have stopped posting much after I had enough to join Jr.VIP. (Now everyone knows that, I'll probably stop getting as many thanks. lol :))

So now I've come across a problem I would have never even considered before. It actually amazes me that I've recieved enough thanks on enough different posts, that it isn't giving me useful feedback now. Everyday when I log on there are a few more thanks, but if I go to "Find all thanked posts by me" there isn't a way to find the newest ones. At first it was ok to just look at the various posts to find them, but as that number has grown that's become impractical.

In the address bar the function is called by post_thanks.php?do=findthanks&u=xxxxx, I thought it might be possible to just add another filter to the line like &d=xxxxxx or something but I haven't been able to find any references to what the filter would be.

I searched google with all the terms I could think of. I found threads discussing the post thanks hack in the vbulletin forum, but didn't find anything discussing this particular issue. I thought about dl'ing the php script so I could see if it already has a function like that, but I decided I have more important things to do. lol. I did consider posting it on the vbulletin forum as a suggestion, but even if they added the function to the hack it might be awhile, if ever, before Harro found it to add on bhw.

There are a lot of members on here that recieve a lot of thanks for their posts. Has anyone else thought about this? Do you know a way to view just the most recent thanks, or do you just appreciate that people are giving you thanks and call it good? It seems like it would be nice to know which posts the new thanks might be for.

Hopefully someone knows a way to do this. :beerchug:

Yeah exactly, and it's also nice to see who it is that's thanking you. Sometimes I'll go look to see what other posts that member has thanked and find a lot of other really good posts that way. If the member has a lot of posts themselves, I'll also go look at their previous posts to see if I can find more good information.

It's just one more tool I've used to find good information on bhw, but now I can't tell as easily who's giving thanks or which posts are getting them.

I guess no one else really gives it much thought then. :)

Well I have another question then on a different topic. It's still kind of related since it helps find really good information.

When I come across someone that makes a lot of really good threads and replies, I like to check back at their recent posts now and then to see if they've got any new really good ones.

The easiest way to keep track of that is to add them as a friend, but I've noticed sometimes the friend box isn't there on the public profile page for some members. I thought it must be a setting they've made in their privacy setting. That's cool if someone wants to make stuff private, but one member I've asked about it says he doesn't know why it's like that. His privacy settings are still set to everyone, but the box still doesn't show.

Does anyone know what settings need to be changed if your friend box isn't showing up on your public profile page?

Rather than simply hit the thank you button for this one, I'll tell you that I for one follow YOUR threads, you've always got something to contribute, or and idea to share.

    So thanks for that!

    Dadelius,

I'm a little honored that anyone thinks my posts are good enough that they want to follow when I make new ones. Thanks for the compliment. It's good to learn the things I've discussed lately, because it's basic stuff that applies to most everything for IM. But if you really want to learn how to make some serious money you should follow people that are smarter than me. People like seo20, Yukinari84, aftershock2020, apekillape, Hexalor and a few others.

Their advice is worth listening to. Be sure to give them thanks when you read something that helps you out, and don't be shy about giving them rep. They really help people a lot on here. I make some money, but not at the scale a lot of other people do. Be sure to follow posts from people that are making a lot of money at this. Read their responses to posts and you'll get little bits of info here and there that can really help you out when you put it all together. Read the threads where they go into more detail and you'll even have a better understanding of how to make things work for you.

I'm glad that you like my posts,
    Wolf

edit - There are a lot more than just the few members I listed that are worth following. They were just off the top of my head because theirs were some of the most recent threads I read today. BTW, Dadelius, I just went back and looked through some of you're posts and found some really good stuff too. Thanks.
