Well ok let's face the fact that file-hosters will be down for some time. What should we do now? Go back to torrents or xdcc?

You know how Bitcoin works on P2P sharing of resources, wouldn't it be feasible to design a peer to peer hosting and streaming application?
Streaming of a video, is fed in bits from p2p users on the network in a similar way to that of torrents. No one has the whole file, so it would be hard to hold anyone individually accountable for a particular file. The connection could also be encrypted for security purposes.
Cracking down on users of such an application would be paramount to the US sueing everyone who uses LOIC, It's not feasible because of the sheer amount of users.

I think its backfired badly.
A guesstimate similar to the ones used by the media industry would be a loss of 100m this week to US firms.
Advertising, servers, traffic, PPC, transactions, domains, affiliates. A large chunk of this will be legit also. There are always unexpected consequences to shutting down x% of the internet in one big swoop.

Guys chillax, Its only till the elections(i hope). Anyway Rapidshare and mediafire works as of now. You will hardly get links though...the scene has slowed to crawl...lol.
Anyway for guys with movie or tv sites...dont worry...As long as its not hosted on your servers you are safe. If you want you can send the sites my way...i would be glad to take your burden...seeing all my uploading earnings took a nose dive.
Some hosts like uploaded are banning US IPs. So use VPN. If you want them still...check newsgroups or private torrent trackers. Only they are unaffected.
One more thing...i m in a bit of a pissed mood...so ignore my rashness.
As for stopping piracy..this guys just wont learn.
So for precautions..get a non-US domain in case they take your domain and get hosting out of fcking USA.
For my indian friends..DOT just disabled rapidshare and mediafire on 3g / gprs. So use leech servers or proxies or vpn....
Blahhhh such a nasty week.. for more info check wjunction..warezbb etc.
