Figuring out an affiliate system to make money!

First of all... Thank you to the community for being rad... I have been reading and skimming here for years... Along the way i've picked a little up... Thank you!

I am writing my first post here today because I need some help! I recently lost my job as a developer and have been working on some affiliate ideas I've had in the meantime...

In the past I was able to make some sales, get a couple of $100 checks (yeee)... Now I am thinking of trying it more seriously and wanted to ask a few questions if I may?

Lil background... I threw up a test site on August 1st (36 days ago)... Loaded it with some content about a week later and then started some twitter and social media campaigns to promote it.... That was 4 weeks ago and i've made $30... Doesn't sound like much right?

That's about what I did last time I tried... for about 6 weeks... make a couple hundo... then it faded... but I didn't try THAT hard so i dunno???

However... The more I have been reading on bhw, the more I realize that people are making money because they have NUMBERS!... Not just one site... But a network of sites... Thoughts???

If I am making $30/mo on my first attempt should I just replicate the idea 100 times or 1000?

I know it's a lot of work.... but anyone got experience?... Am I crazy in thinking this will work?

If the answer is yes... I am looking for information on how to research domains without leaving a trace of doing so... Worried about domain snipers n things! Or is that a non issue? Or is there a recommended way to research domains? free? tools?

Not yet. Work out how you can make say $100 a month off one site, then try and build 3 sites like it, for a low price, that make the same - then start scaling up, slowly at first, and then gaining speed.
