FFS google, give me a break

My site has been number 1 for its main kw for just over a week now and was making me around $20 per day. I added a new page 2 days ago which landed on the 3rd page without backlinks. I have just started to backlink the new page/kw using a few social bookmarks (only 13 of them) and 1 hr later, my main kw have gone from number 1 to low down on second page

Any ideas whats happened guys?

bookmarks doesn't work anymore and also there is a new algorithm rolling now (there has been several posts about it, search for them)

you need to build quality backlinks on it

Google dance... I never never look at my rankings until week 3 or 4. I have had that happen to me too. It will most likely get up into the top 3-4 spots in the next few weeks. Good luck!

The page that has lost rank is the one I have not touched though. Im guessing that the bookmarks have sent googles spiders to my site and the have updated the whole site with the new algo

I don't think that's true. The number 1 rank you were holding was actually only a part of the GOolge dance which gave you a temporary boost. Google thought that because of the sudden influx of backlinks, your site was a temporary "trend" and so they gave way for you to go to the top. Kind of like how some sites went up when "Linsanity" was everywhere but eventually went down to their proper rankings.

the main kw has been #1 for a few weeks after slowly gaining rank over the past 6 months

Its the new algorithm, means you have been overstuffing your keywords on your site.

I'm curious as to what made you say this? The new algorithm change is about overstuffing of keywords. If the bookmarks are targeting generic or very long tail keywords then how can the bookmarks NOT help?

Welcome to the new google.
There are absolutely NO sites that are ranking for more than 2 months post Feb in the top 10 of any highly competitive niche...

Minus authorities like Amazon, Sears etc etc of course

Do not update your site with new posts.

Of course, no other marketer will tell you that, but this method actually works.

Once in a while when you have built / bought / etc links, you do the "budge" factor.
