The best remedy for depression is charity. I heard that 60% of the time it works every time. Just give me a minute, let me find my paypal address... :p

giving away free money is even more depressing
then being depressed

How about not being so trivial with peoples feelings while trying to sit on high making a joke of them. If someone is at a point that they're making a thread to share their feelings it's because they're in a vulnerable position more than likely. Instead of being a dick about and trying to make fun of them with this thread, how about you try giving a little positive feedback or advice to help them out. I've seen you make like of the community not being what it once was in previous threads, want to know why, shit like this.

I realize it's the lounge so you can pretty much make a thread of whatever you'd like, and I'm sure you'll have plenty of knuckle-dragging computer tough guys come in here and say "I never get depressed cuz I make a million dollars a day and pound grade-a trim every night so yeah, hahaha at them sad people making those threads". I'm pretty sure everyone's hit a down time in their life at one time or another and everyone deals with it differently. A lot of people who work in IM don't have a typical social circle that others might have, due to location, working online a lot, lack of family, or whatever the reason. It doesn't really matter why, the point is they might not have a support group to reach out to as you or I may, so they look at this forum as their circle of extended family and friends.

I don't see anything positive to be gained from making a joke out of that and trying to troll people with this thread. Maybe my thinking is wrong, but I thought we were supposed to be here to help each other out, and offer up our own experiences to others. Sorry for the rant but I just can't stand when someone's in a vulnerable state and some "tough guy" comes by to try and shit on them while they're down. I'm going to have a problem, and probably respond to that every time.

depression should never be taken serious.

I'm that tired I can't even work out if this is a joke or not?

yes wizard its a bit of fun....i no the lounge is a chat place but man
so many threads on depression - motivate me -
very depressing

actually it should be taken serious as soon as certain criteria are fulfilled.... then it's a disease and the person needs help!

but if it goes away (if it feels like an emotion, not something that last for long periods them it is in the normal range)

google for the criteria of depression, definition of WHO standards... if you hit them go for help...... but i must also say that Doc. Google is always a bad idea - you start to think your ill if you read it, at a certain point...

I always find that a good nights sleeps helps your perspective the next day.
But if it is chronic depression, that is another story, there are drugs to bounce you out of that vicious cycle.

Exercise, for me nothing lifts the spirits like a good run!

Well, in most cases "Being Depressed" is just an excuse used to seek the attention of others. For the most part it works quite well. I'm no expert in psychology or anything but when one feels depressed, the key is mind over matter. Positive thinking helps wonders and you are the only one who can do it.

Anytime I feel down, I take a step back, look around and say to myself "You think you have it bad?". Look at all the people in the world who would kill just for having heat, air conditioning, a bed to lay in, the list is endless.

My point is when anyone feels depressed, take a few minutes to think of, or write down everything you are grateful to have, or have had while others don't. It really brings things into perspective.

If you have the luxury of having internet and posting on BHW, you shouldn't even be depressed at all.

You should smile, brother.
Think about it:
-You have hands to write here;
-You have eyes to see what you write here;
-You have brain to analyze that you're depressed;
-You are 100% normal, 100% healthy and young - Why to spend these years on depression?!;
-Maybe best of all, you are a member here, and you are a part of our family.

Smile at least 15 seconds, and you will feel better :)

im still fighing on this depression, i was rehabilitated because of this.
Take healthy foods and vitamins, empty stomach make you feel irritated and depressed.

Take meds to cure your depression.

It stops being funny when your best friend jumps off the Golden Gate Bridge, which recently happened to me. So yea, sarcasm is fun and all, but there is plenty of other people you can target. And I get you were just trying to make a point and have a laugh, just keep in mind that you really never know what other people are going through or feeling or what might push them over the edge - trust me on that.
