Feeling a bit discouraged

I've been at this for almost a year. At the moment I have 3 different websites in 3 different niches that I work on every day - whether it be adding new content, building backlinks..whatever.

Niche 1 gets about 35,000 unique visitors/month. The other 2 get maybe 1500 between the two of them.

My primary method Monetization method has been Adsense. I've yet to hit $5 in a single day. The most visited site isn't really a profitable 'niche' (celebrity, entertainment type site), but the traffic is there. The other two are hit or miss on how profitable the keywords are.

Despite my best efforts to build backlinks, my rankings are dismal. Organic traffic is maybe 600/day.

Any suggestions, advice...motivational quotes if you will - would be much appreciated. Feeling a bit down & out at the moment.

Maybe you just need to change the wheels -- as to not employ the methods that have not worked for you during a year.

how do you advertise your site?
have you thought about using other safe/not so safe methods?
 
600 a day in organic traffic is great. Your monetization method is probably the problem. AdSense pays shit compared to affiliate programs. Try to switch it up. You have the traffic, it's just about getting money out of it. Use Amazon's affiliate program, individual brand affiliate programs that often pay a higher rate, sell ad space, build an email list to blast to. But don't be discouraged and quit. My first year or two of IM was pretty much me losing money on a bunch of methods until I finally found the ones that worked well for me that I enjoyed.
 
I would suggest using other ads along with adsense? Maybe a bit of infolinks + some affiliate programs and try out various things until you find the perfect combination
 
Definitely the way to go. Awesome products available for a wide variety of things. Even if you're not building the story around the product - if you took a day to get approved for a load of vendors on there you could pretty much always find something relevant to the story you're posting! Good variety of products here, and they have quick reporting which I love (I hate having to wait a day to see my stats, I'm too impatient)

What are your Adsense Stats, maybe the problem is right there.

RPM

for each site, then i can help you analysing if there is a problem with your ad placement.

With 40k UVs i make around 15-18$ a day with my stats.

Take a look at what youhave accomplished as opposed to what you have not. Take a look back at 11 months ago and see just how far you have come!

Feeling discouraged and lacking motivation is an emotional state of mind that we all struggle with at some point or another. It's not what gets you down there so much as what gets you out of the funk so to speak. Never feel like you are hopeless or that things can't change. They do, and they will.

As for the monetizing of your traffic, maybe we need to flip that on its head. Test your viewer engagement and see if you can scoop some email addresses, then as others pointed out try some affiliate offers.

Just pulled for main site to give you an idea as this were all the traffic is going

CTR: 0.06%
CPC: $0.41
RPM: $0.56

I did see a bit of increase this month modifying the content to better space the ads, but nothing too dramatic.

I have tried a few different affiliates but nothing I used seemed to convert. They'd get a lot of clicks but nobody would actually buy. For my newer 2 sites, I am integrating more affiliate offers as its easy to tie into posts, however my main site its very difficult to do that. Posts are simply screen captures/pictures of celebrities. Audience is primarily gay men (which is a good market, but can't seem to find anything that'll convert without getting into the adult offers).

(Trying to give as much information as possible - not sure if posting the sites themselves is a violation of the rules?).

I was looking at trying Ezoic but the integration process I'm not crazy about.

Infolink will get you a non-user-friendly website.

With that traffic and a normal CTR (6%) you should get at least 30$ a day

There is a technique i never saw explained in this forum, use the following Post layout for all your posts (i also had a 0.05% ctr, when i switched to this layout it increased to 5-8%)

i have something similar (ads squished between images within a post). May I PM you the site to show you what I mean?

Had Infolknks and I agree...for the $0.75/day it was bringing it...was too invasive. I was supposed to receive my first payment on Sept 15 but they're claiming issues with PayPal and have stopped responding to my emails. Really not impressed with them.

The Ads above and below the content are just increasing the ctr slightly, you have to add a pagebreak in the middle of your post (next page button, all viral facebook sites do the same), this will increase the CTR to at least 4%.

Perhaps, the issue is that your traffic aren't buyers. It all depends on the keywords you are ranking for and/or the source of traffic.

I only read your post and not any after but I will give you this for motivation. When I was sentenced to jail - I thought my life was over... I went from the high life to shit on the walls and real life monsters all around me. I contemplated how in the world would I ever get through anything. Then I thought this - if one man survived then I can as well. So I did and realized that there are those that are way worse off people that will never see the streets again because they wanted to live a life that was out of reach based upon their circumstances. So they, like me, took unnecessary risks. I say this all to say this - You have not mentioned anything extreme but I am giving you the extreme, so you can have some perspective. How bad do you want it - figure it out because someone else has..so why can't you? Now get over any doubt and go get it.
 
Dont get discouraged just keep working harder and do more research to find new strategies to make money
