So I'm wondering just how beneficial it is to get a featured post on a popular website related to my niche, obviously it will help but just how much? I know people will visit my site as they are in a related niche, however regarding SEO, will it improve my ranking considerably or is not guaranteed?

If you post an amazing piece of content on a very popular site...Well then get ready for a gargantuan spike in traffic and an amazing backlink. So yes, it can be extremely beneficial if you have a killer piece of content for a hungry niche.

It will help A LOT. I got a few inbound links from sites in my niche, and it worked wonders. Google likes to see related websites linking to you randomly. It establishes you as an authority in your network.

Relevant niche contextual links are the name of the game, as long as it doesnt scream "guest post" or something like that.

Exactly! It can definitely help a lot.

The best part is, if it's a really quality link on a site with a lot of traffic, you might get a domino effect. So other people who read that article may write their own articles that link to you or may share the piece on social media. This could naturally build even more links, which obviously looks great to Google!
