Fear is holding me back

So you guys know... me and my roommate share this account due to being banned in the past for having 2 accounts in the same house (same iP address).

HOWEVER,
I want to build a website based on "Bed Bugs" and another based on "STD's" and how to cure them or how to know if you have them.... but I am so afraid of lawsuits! I just feel like it is so hard to avoid plagiarism and other laws we may not be aware of. Can someone please ease my anxious mind here? Like, can I talk about those serious topics without permission from a professional?

I do not plan to give false information and I would also inform that I am not a professional... but is there any clearance I need to get to speak on how to tell if you have STD's or some treatment remedies?

Just have a disclaimer on your website if you are so worried about that.

The Internet is FULL of bloggers writing on subjects they have little to no knowledge of. I don't think you need to worry.

Seriously dude, stop worrying. One thing, I won't blog on a subject that I don't have any clue on ( i tried something similar in past and it didn't work). Do I need any certificate? No!! Internet is a free world dude.

You should be more concerned about contracting STDs than lawsuit claims.

Invest in a decent rewriter, there's plenty around here. Push out unique content.

Call it home remedies or cottage garden cures or something and then get battered on with it.

If someone chooses to dip their winky, into hydrochloric acid, you are not to blame. Add a disclaimer etc and you are good.

There are a huge amount of sites advocating drinking hydrogen peroxide, to cure all of life's ailments and they sadly are still there, even though the above chemicals would take the colour from your skin, carpet, dog, hamster or anything else it touches. Their claim is that the constituent parts of hydrogen peroxide are the same as water. Which is true, but it is chemically different.

You mean to say, Get AIDS -> treat it -> blog the procedure?

Don't mention any real names and don't claim any cures. Use a disclaimer... say that it's absolutely necessary to take medical/legal/whatever consultation in case the reader is suffering from it or needs expert advice to learn more about the conditions (something like this)...

yeah ! exactly that is how it work

Make a disclaimer page stating that whatever they take from the blog is not a replacement for visiting a doctor.

If I stand at your place then I'll never starts a thread here just make a website and go on...

Don't be worry just go ahead.

Nobuddy can charge you if you have a disclaimer on your websites.

If you don't rip off anyone else's content then you don't have to worry about plagiarism.

If you're giving medical advice that should only be given from a trained medical professional then you are opening yourself up to a whole world of trouble.

It's not advisable to play doctor online and give people inaccurate or misleading advice in order to sell affiliate products.


If you were sharing your only personal experience however that's a different story.

You honestly think that you can play doctor on the internet and get away with it just by having a little disclaimer that is unlikely to be legally sound?

No chance! If you are giving out medical advice (not saying that's what the OP is planning to do but he might be) without being trained to do so you're setting yourself up for potentially big trouble if someone following your advice takes action on it and the consequences are disastrous.

Just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean it's the right thing to do or that you should do it too.

Except the internet isn't really a free world. People do get sued, lawsuits brought against them, go to jail and lots of other things because of things they said and did on the internet.

^^ For sharing information? Wow. If I had dyslexia for example, I could always open a treat dyslexia forum and exchange opinion. I am not breaking any copyright there. What if I am sued? I would just tell them to fuck off. Yes please. Come and get me if you can

Everyone is experto on everything, welcome to internet. you can create site about anything you want really. Maybe I would just state there that I'm not doctor bla bla...

One of my specialities is similar to this scenario, I'm not going to go into detail as it will give away too much.

Suffice it to say I am not a doctor and not registered in anyway as there is no legislation for it. I am trained and did train as a hobby for many years.

The official line is this "if symptoms persist always consult your registered medical practitioner, or GP"

"This information is for leisure purposes only" (this annoys me because I take it seriously and know how successful it is, but it's all about ass covering).

I have only been threatened once, it was based in California, I'm from the UK I thought I would lose. Turns out this woman was a little mentally touched in the head, and was a regular suer, as there was no certifiable proof that alternatives work, but also no proof of harm it was an acceptable leisure pursuit.

Also the clincher was that I was stealing bone from her legs, and was using it for my own purposes. A quick xray demonstrated her imagination was that of an A grade Hollywood writer.

In simple terms nothing can ever stop you from being sued. There will always be an idiot.

But you must not suggest something which is blatantly unsafe. Have training to back you up, and acknowledge the fact that even if you take it very seriously, in the real legal world it is snake oil. Unless of course it is an approved practice, and you are an approved practitioner.

After all even doctors get sued.

a hundred years ago doctors were not washing their hands before major operations, and yet cooks would wash their hands before cooking. even an experts advice can be worth shit. even if you publish shit, you'll still make money.
