This is fucking crazy!!! Just think what they are going to do when the next gen consoles come out if they are not already snooping on everyone already on the consoles!

That doesn't sound like a doable thing. How would they even get access to our cellphones?

If you have an iPhone, which is a extremely protected system, it is highly unlikely that they could do that without Apple's support, but then again it's the US, so I don't even know :p

Wonder about Googliath's involvement in this mess:

n this case, it sounds like the FBI's tools might involve Android and desktop PC malware, so Google wouldn't need to be complicit for claims about using Android device mics remotely to be accurate. We've reached out to both the FBI and Google for comment, but have yet to hear back as of press time.

They can get a warrant to do it, no different than getting a warrant to wiretap your home phone.

I highly doubt that there's a "wiretap everyone's phone" warrant, and even if it is, how long would it take for Apple to produce a software update that has gone through all stages of development and issue it to the public? A few months I suppose..

Everyone take a look at the world we live in. If you think wiretapping an iPhone is not "doable" or the government isn't capable of snooping that much, then you really need to open your eyes.

I dont get the big deal wiretapping has been going on since the 1890's and the Supreme Court confirmed it was legal in 1928.

You said exactly what I was thinking

This is very easily doable. Especially now they have access to Apples entire database. For the government its just a click of a button to wiretap someone...

What warrants did they get to spy on the most highly decorated military leader of our time? Petraeus was the head of the CIA and the FBI was tapping him....doubt that warrant was ever issued. NDAA changed everything, and Apple can't do a thing about it. Google already contracts with the NSA, so Android is most likely posessing "built in" spyware.
