hm, wasn't there a plugin floating around here to do just that? ("Like" a page)
Wonder if there will be implications to the sites that used this technique.

It's not like clicking "play video" automatically likes the page on Facebook. These people want whatever is on the other side and they actually DO share / like the link. It's stupid to blame somebody else - this is the actual users doing it. (unless the account is hacked, which is another story altogether.)

Crosses fingers for Adscend. This will be tied up in the courts for a LONG time.

I don't think FB will be successful considering that they could argue that they are legitimately using a feature built into FB... but then again FB does have a case so this will definitely be in court for a long, long time.

Sitting back and enjoying the show...

I could be wrong here, but as far as I know Adscend was not allowing facebook traffic. That has been the case for at least a year.

Shit... Adscend is a good company and now they are facing such problems. I'm sure they will be a lot stricter than before...

Some good points; you know I don't think FB/ AG would have filed if they didn't feel they had a very winnable case; and yeah this isn't about adscend this is about click/likejacking in general, and certainly food for thought.

I would not want to be Adscend in this situation.

I am expecting this will slowly float to other CPA companies too.

Dumb fucking media, loves to twist everything around along with this gov. It's not our fault some people on fb have the iq of a fucking basketball. There is no "auto sharing" or "forced" sharing involved. People CHOOSE to share it, to see whats behind the link. Gotta love when things get twisted to sound so bad..

Facebook says it believes Adscend earns more than $20 million a year doing this.

Time to set up a cpa company :)

In real human terms that means 6 digit numbers - 1mil. Anything you read via gov or media is a exaggerated lie.

    Since when would "6 digit numbers" = $1m? That's 7 figures.

Adscend will generate considerably more than $1m in revenue, so the $20m figure is probably right. I haven't read the article, but it's most likely referring to network revenue, not publisher earnings or profit. I'm not sure how it works in the US, but in the UK you'd be able to get access to their public accounts anyway, hence how they will have the number.
